Many poems use a pattern. Below are several different patterns. Choose the ones that you like and write your own poems.

One of the simplest patterns is the I wish pattern. Here is an example of an I wish pattern poem:

I wish worms tasted like spaghetti
I wish mud was chocolate pudding
I wish I had a homework machine
I wish my parents let me go to bed when I wish
I wish tomorrow was Saturday and Monday was summer vacation.

Another easy pattern begins each line with the word today. Here is an example:

Today is chilly and cold.
Today the rivers gurgle loudly.
Today I walked to school alone.

In a maybe poem, you get to make up ideas. Read the example below and maybe you will understand.
