A simile is like a wide smile

A simile is like your eyes sparkling
Bright as moonlight

Or

I am as sad as a man who's lost his mitten
I am sad like a lost kitten

Or worse still,

I am as sad as a person who has been bitten

A simile is a phrase or sentence that tells how two things are alike. A simile always uses the words "like" or "as __ as."

For example:

A puddle is like a little lake.
A little lake is as wet as an ocean.

I am as tall as a giant pine tree.
