               Touch screen driver for Linux XFREE86 4.2.X
                           Installation guide

1. Please make sure your Linux & X Windows System is working properly,
   before install touch screen driver.

2. Please use root account to install and calibrate touch screen driver.
   Will have error if use general user account to install and calibrate touch screen driver.
   Please make /etc/etandt directory for save some initial file for touch screen.

3. Add strings to /etc/X11/XF86Config. (let X Window load the driver)
   3.a. Find "ServerLayout" section, add: Inputdevice "etouch" "SendCoreEvents"
        Ex: Section "ServerLayout"
		Inputdevice "touchscreen1" "SendCoreEvents"
        EndSection

   3.b. Add the following section to the "InputDevice" section:
        Ex: Section "InputDevice"
                Identifier "etouch"
		Driver "etouch_usb"
		Option "Device" "/dev/usb/hidddev0"
        EndSection

   3.c. Save changes to XF86Config file

   *note: The Touch screen should alwans be connected at usb port.

4. tscpl_usb is a calibration program for touch screen.

5. Copy etouch_usb_drv.o file from floppy to /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/input/etouch_usb_drv.o,
   etouch_usb_drv.o should be marked executable.

6. Copy tscpl program files to hard drive.
   Please create a directory and copy tscpl program from floppy.
   tscpl files should be marked executable.
   Ex: cd /
       mkdir touchscreen
       cp /mnt/floppy/tscpl_usb /touchscreen/tscpl_usb

7. When first time start XWindows, the calibration maybe not accurately,
   Please execute /touchscreen/tscpl_usb for calibrate touch screen.

8. Please don't use virtual desktop with touch screen,
   touch screen calibration will not accurately on virtual desktop environment.
   
*note: 1. Please notice for Uppercase and Lowercase of character
       2. If still have problem with driver installation, Please
          type run X window with:
               startx &> startx.out
          This will create startx.out with some debug information on it,
          And please send back to us for fix the problem.
       3. Compatible with RedHat Linux 8.0 under XFree86 v4.2.X

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
