This new hard drive firmware addresses this issue. Instructions: NOTE: This upgrade only works when booted from a DOS diskette. It will not work when run from a protected mode DOS prompt. The update will only be performed on Device 0 / Primary Controller. No other drives in the system will be updated. 1.) Creat a bootable 1.44mb diskette, use makedisk.bat to copy files to diskette. 2.) Boot your system with this bootable floppy diskkette. 3.) At command prompt, type UPGRADE. 4.) Follow on screen instructions. The program will terminate upon completion of update. A complete power cycle will be required for the update to be in effect. Remove your disk and power cycle your system. If the errors persist after the firmware upgrade, follow the IM message instruction and contact Compaq technical support.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
