11/01/2002 Read Me - PhoneTools v4.00 Software Patch ----------------------------------------- PURPOSE This Software Patch corrects an issue where a "CRC error" message appears during the PhoneTools installation. Although the installation continued if the Ignore button was clicked, certain files did not get installed properly. This problem occurred on some "V.92 Modem" CDs with part number (PN) 289-000104-A. INSTALLATION Important Note: This Software Patch can ONLY be applied to PhoneTools v4.00 software that was installed from 'V.92 Modem" CD with part number (PN) 289-000104-A. It cannot be used for PhoneTools v4.00 software that was installed from a different CD or other means. Please follow the steps below. 1. If you have not done so, install PhoneTools v4.00 from the V.92 Modem CD. Click Ignore to bypass the CRC error. 2. When the installation is complete, restart the computer. 3. When the desktop appears, double-click Phonetool.exe to begin installing the software patch. When the installation is complete, restart the computer. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
