BIOS FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS (Using a bootable 3.5" System Diskette)
The following instructions explain how to flash the system BIOS
of your PC. These instructions apply to the HP DOS flasher
called PHLASH.
Use these instructions if your PC runs with :
- DOS 5.0 or above
- Windows 3.1 or Windows For Workgroup
If your PC runs under Windows NT or Windows 95, please refer to
the directory named 'TopTools'.

A1. CREATING THE BIOS INSTALLATION DISKETTE
a. Create a bootable system diskette
To flash a non-US BIOS, go to § A4, else go to step b.
b. Copy the contents of this directory onto this diskette:
'copy *.* A:'
(Assuming that your diskette drive is A:)

A2. FLASHING THE BIOS
a. Insert the BIOS installation diskette into the A: drive
b. Boot the PC from the diskette to ensure a clean boot.
c. Launch the flashing command by typing from A: the following
command: 'Flash'

A3. SWITCHES (FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY)
The following switches have to be used behind the
phlash.exe program.
Ex: phlash.exe /B=PLATFORM.BIN /CS /V /mode=3
/B Binary file to be loaded as platform.bin
/CS Check BIOS image file checksum before flashing
/V Compare BIOS image file and flash EEPROM after
flashing
/C BIOS will automatically load CMOS default at
following boot
/P Production mode: no screen outputs, no beeps,
auto reboot
/S Silent: no beeps
/EXIT Exit to DOS instead of rebooting

A5. ERRORS MESSAGES
If you get the flash error messages describe below,
follow the instructions as given:
CANNOT FLASH USING USER PASSWORD, USE ADMIN PWD
it is because you have enabled password on boot and
booted as a user. User boot doesn't allow flashing BIOS.
==> Reboot with your ADMIN password.
OPEN FAILED ON BIOS ROM IMAGE FILE
you probably tried to flash protect switch SW1-1 ON
==> Switch it to OFF to enable BIOS flash.

A6. MAKING THE DISKETTE'S LABEL
Texts to be written on diskette's label are given in the
attached "disk.txt" file in the following fields:
* Title
* Subtitle
* Version
* Copyright 1
* Copyright 2
Example :
* Title=HP VL4 5/xx (S3 Trio 765 64V+)
* SubTitle=OS/2 Warp video driver,disk 1/2
* Version=1.573

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
