+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + BIOS FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS + +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ================================================================ The following instructions explain how to flash the system BIOS of your PC from a floppy diskette. These instructions apply to the HP flash program called PHLASH. ================================================================ CONTENTS 1. Creating the BIOS installation diskette 2. Flashing the BIOS 3. Parameters 4. Error messages and warnings. 5. Making the diskette's label 1. CREATING THE BIOS INSTALLATION DISKETTE ------------------------------------------ a. Create a system diskette b. Copy the contents of this directory onto this diskette: copy *.* A: (Assuming that your diskette drive is A:) 2. FLASHING THE BIOS -------------------- a. Insert the BIOS installation diskette into the A: (B:) drive b. Boot the PC from the diskette to ensure a clean boot. c. Launch the flashing command by typing from A: (B:) the following command: Flash 3. PARAMETERS (FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY) --------------------------------------- The following parameters can be used behind the phlash.exe program. /H displays the help screen with all parameters available /B Binary file to be loaded as platform.bin /V Compare BIOS image file and flash EEPROM after flashing /C BIOS will automatically load CMOS default at following boot /P Production mode: no screen ouptuts, no beeps, auto reboot /S Silent: no beeps /EXIT Exit to DOS instead of rebooting Ex: phlash.exe /B=Platform.bin /CS /V 4. ERRORS MESSAGES AND WARNINGS ------------------------------- If you get the flash error messages described below, follow the instructions as given: CANNOT FLASH USING USER PASSWORD, USE ADMIN PWD it is because you have enabled password on boot and booted as a user. User boot doesn't allow flashing BIOS. ==> Reboot with your ADMIN password. 5. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
