Gemplus Smart Card Reader Installation Package

Caution:

The Reader Installation Package available from December 18th to January
11th 2001 on the Gemplus Web site was corrupted.  We apologize for the
inconvenience generated by this problem.  Please, download this new
version that corrects the problem and provides the latest drivers.

1. Release Note
---------------

This new version of the Gemplus Smart Card Reader Installation Package
no more provide diagnostic tool.  The diagnostic tool is now provided
in a separate package on the Gemplus web site.

The help file is now HTML format.


2. Supported Readers
--------------------

This reader installer supports the following Gemplus readers:

   * GemPC400
   * GemPC410
   * GemPC413
   * GemPC430
   * GemPC433


3. Supported Operating Systems
------------------------------

   * Windows 95B with Internet Explorer 4.01 or better
   * Windows 98
   * Windows 98 Second Edition
   * Windows Millenium Edition
   * Windows NT4.0 Service Pack 3 or better
   * Windows 2000
   * Windows XP

For all operating systems except 2000 and XP, multi-reader
configurations are not guarantied to work.


4. Installing /Removing a Reader
--------------------------------

To install a reader start RdrInstall application and follow the
instructions.  For more information on how to use RdrInstall or
for other ways of installing a reader open the file INDEX.htm
in the Help folder.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

• Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

• If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

• Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

• Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

• Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

• From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

• Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
