1. Introduction:

This Ethernet NDIS driver for OS/2 is intended to bring additional driver
support to Microsoft LAN Manager 2.0 for OS/2 servers and workstations.
You can use the LAN Manager setup utility, SETUP, to import new drivers,
so that the network may be configured with the new drivers.

2. Directory Structure and Contents

The following directory structure on the installation diskette is to meet
   the LAN Manager requirement.

        \ <ROOT>
        ³
        ÀÄÄÄMSLANMAN.OS2
            ³
            ÀÄÄÄDRIVERS
                ³
                ÃÄÄÄETHERNET
                ³ ³
                ³ ÀÄÄÄEP200
                ³ ³
                ³ ÃÄÄÄEP200.OS2
                ³ ³
                ³ ÀÄÄÄPROTOCOL.INI
                ³
                ÀÄÄÄNIF
                    ³
                    ÀÄÄÄEP200.NIF

The following describes the directory and file contents under the tree:

MSLANMAN.OS2 and DRIVERS Contains NDIS driver for OS/2.

ETHERNET Contains the NDIS driver and PROTOCOL.INI for the Ether-
net cards. The NDIS driver should have its own subdi-
rectory in the name of the associated NIF file.

EP200 Contains the NDIS driver and PROTOCOL.INI.

EP200.OS2 The NDIS driver for OS/2.

PROTOCOL.INI The prototype of the final PROTOCOL.INI which stores the
configuration and binding information for all protocols
and MAC modules in the system. This is for use of the
                     Protocol Manager during initialization.

This file will be bound or modified during the installa-
                     tion.

NIF This file contains the NDIS network information that is
                     read by the setup utility.

EP200.NIF The NIF file for the Ethernet NDIS driver.

3. Installation

   * Install LAN Manager, together with the NDIS Driver.

    1) Install the Lan Manager according to its manual's instructions.

    2) Choose 'Yes' for the following option :

            Import Network Drivers
Do you have more disks to load?
            <No> <Yes>

    3) Insert the Distribution Diskette into your floppy drive. The fol-
       lowing message will appear:

            [X] EP200 NDIS Driver Ver 2.00

Press 'Space Bar' to choose the driver and then choose 'OK'.

    4) Later in the 'Network Drivers' dialogue box, choose the driver shown
       below:

             EP200 NDIS Driver Ver 2.00..........Netbeui

    5) After finishing the installation, use a text editor to edit the fol-
lowing lines in PROTOCOL.INI under the directory C:\LANMAN:

              [EP200_NIF]
                    drivername=EP200$
Lptport=[1|2|3|4] (Specify an LPT port or delete this
line. If this line is deleted, the
driver will auto detect an LPT port
                                       for you)

Note that if you have more than one Pocket Ethernet Adapter, you
should assign an LPT port for the second one; otherwise, it will
       not be detected and used.

    6) Reboot your PC system.

   * Install the NDIS Driver on a LAN Manager-installed machine

    1) Change the current directory to C:\LANMAN and run SETUP.

    2) In the 'Action' menu of 'Microsoft LAN Manager SETUP' window, choose
       'Import Network Drivers'.

    3) Insert the Distribution Diskette into a floppy drive. The following
       message will appear:

            [X] EP200 NDIS Driver Ver 2.00

Press 'Space Bar' to choose the driver and then choose 'OK'.

    4) Choose 'View/Modify...' from the 'Action' menu in the "Setup Main
       Window'.

    5) Later, when the 'Network Drivers' dialogue box appears, remove the
original Protocol Driver and NDIS Driver on the screen, and select:

             EP200 NDIS Driver Ver 2.00..........Netbeui

       Then, choose <Done>.

    6) After returning to the 'Setup Main Window' screen, choose 'Save' from
       the 'Action' menu.

    7) Choose 'Exit' in the Exit menu to finish the installation and return
       to DOS.

    8) Edit the following lines in C:\LANMAN\PROTOCOL.INI:

              [EP200_NIF]
                    drivername=EP200$
Lptport=[1|2|3|4] (Specify an LPT port or delete this
line. If this line is deleted, the
driver will auto detect an LPT port
                                       for you)

Note that if you have more than one Pocket Ethernet Adapter, you
should assign an LPT port for the second one; otherwise, it will
       not be detected and used.

    9) Shut down and reboot your PC system.
