README-1st.txt Driver File Contents (366_NT_125.zip)

The 366_NT_125 drivers are from ABIT-USA.com and are written for NT but should be used with Windows XP to install the HPT366 UDMA Drivers.

After I installed Windows XP on my C Drive (regular IDE) I got two "Mass Storage Controller" listings under OTHER. To get the UDMA to work, I had to do the following.
 - Note if it does not work, and locks up on reboot, then be sure to press F8 and choose Previously Good startup. I had this problem but had a pending file operation that I had to delete in the registry.
 - Be sure there are no pending File Operations in registry. You may have to delete them manually (a problem with SP1).

TO UPDATE
 - Put these files in a directory on C Drive (like c:\HPTdrivers)
 - Delete both "Mass Storage Controllers" in Device Manager
 - reboot
 - As the system restarts the Desktop, you will get asked to search for a driver. Click Canel on Each.
 - Now go into Device Manager and do one update. (Leave the other for after reboot. You will need to click cancel after rebooting after updating the first one.) Manually choose the driver - Have Disk option - and click the HPT366.inf
   1) Right Click on "Mass Sotrage Controller"
   2) Choose install from specific location and click next
   3) Choose Don't Search - I'll Choose Location and click next
   4) Click "Have Disk" and choose location and choose HPT366.inf.
   5) Follow rest of screens and choose continue anyway.
 - Once it installs, click OK and then allow to restart. (Remember that if this was the first one, you will need to cancel the second "Driver Search" when you reboot.)
 - When XP restarts, do the second one and restart from Device Manager - reboot.
 - YOu should not have any more problems.
