4. About Disk Utility =======================================================
If you click Utilities and then click Disk Utility on the screen to install
the driver, the Disk Utility for creating installation floppy disks starts.
If your computer has a CD-ROM drive, you can install the driver directly
from the CD-ROM. In this case, you can ignore the following explanation.
The CD-ROM contains the data necessary to create installation floppy disks.
If your computer does not have a CD-ROM drive, you can create installation
disks by copying the necessary files from the CD-ROM to floppy disks using
another computer. The driver can then be installed using these installation
disks.
Certain operating systems and drivers may not support this function.
4.1 Creating installation floppy disks
1) Obtain some 2HD floppy disks.
A CD-ROM drive is necessary to copy the necessary files to the floppy
disks. Check whether your computer at work or a friend's computer has
a CD-ROM drive that you can use to create the installation disks.
2) Format the floppy disks.
3) Load the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
4) When the screen for choosing which driver to install appears, click the
button to the left of the Utilities legend. The screen changes to the one
for choosing utilities.
5) Click Disk Utility. Disk Utility is started.
6) Choose the operating system and the model of the printer for which to
create the installation disks, and click Next.
7) Select the language for the printer driver and scanner software, and
click Next.
8) Select which drive to copy the files to, and click Next. An MO or other
removable-disk drive drive can be chosen instead of a floppy disk drive.
9) Load a floppy disk and click Start to begin copying.
10) If copying finishes without error, OK is indicated on the icon for disk
1, and disk 2 can then be created. Load a floppy disk and click Start.
Create all installation disks in the same way. You should put a label on
each disk showing the disk number, driver name, version number, date of
creation, and any other important details.
