BIOS UPDATING INSTRUCTIONS
==========================
  The following instructions explain how to update the
  system BIOS of your HP Brio PC.

1. CREATING THE BIOS INSTALLATION FLOPPY DISK
=============================================
  It is recommended to update the BIOS by booting from a system
  floppy disk containing the BIOS files and update utility.
  a. Format a floppy disk with the option "Copy system files" enabled:
    - Double-click on the "My computer" icon on your desktop 
    - Right-click on the "3½ Floppy (A:)" icon
    - Select "Format" in the menu. A window will appear.
    - Check the box "Copy system files"
    - Click on "Start" to format the diskette with system files.

  b. Copy the content of the directory containing all BIOS files
     onto the floppy disk. By default, the directory begins with
     
     C:\HP\BIOS\
  
  Note: Creating a system floppy disk requires a PC running Windows 95,
  Windows 98 or Windows NT4.0 Server.
  It is not possible to create a system floppy disk within
  Windows NT4.0 Workstation.
  
2. UPDATING THE BIOS
====================
  a. Shut down your PC.
  b. Insert the BIOS installation floppy disk into your PC.
  c. Restart your PC. Your PC will boot from the floppy disk.
  d. Launch the updating command by typing the command:
      
       FLASH
     
     The BIOS will be transferred onto the flash memory of your PC.
     
  e. Keep the floppy disk inserted and restart your PC as indicated.
  
  Warning: do not attempt to switch off your PC during the
  BIOS updating operation.
     

3. CONFIGURING BIOS SETTINGS FOR YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM

  The updating operation has restored the BIOS default settings, which
  may not be optimized for your operating system.
  
  Your PC will have booted from the floppy disk.
  
  Type the command:
      
      OSCONFIG
  
  Type the option number for the operating system you are currently using.
  
  Warning: if BIOS settings are not appropriate to the operating system,
  hardware components will not be detected correctly.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
