Bus Master PIIX4 IDE Device Driver ************************************************************************** * Introduction * ************************************************************************** This document describes the information procedure for the PIIX4 Bus Master Device Drivers for Microsoft Windows 95, Windows NT and OS/2. ************************************************************************** * Windows 95 * ************************************************************************** Installation 1. Remove references to install in real mode IDE device drivers in the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files - especially any drivers that control ATAPI CD-ROM and special IDE features. 2. Close any running applications. 3. Click onto the My Computer icon, select the A: driver and open WIN 95 folder. 4. Click onto the Setup icon to decompress the file, then follow the screen's description to accept the agreement. 5. From the Installation Wizard, choose Installation to install PIIX4 drivers (or Un-installation if the PIIX4 drivers have already installed and there is a need to remove them to enable a fresh installation to take place). 6. Finish installation and restart the Windows 95. ************************************************************************** * Windows NT * ************************************************************************** Installatioin 1. Close any running applications. 2. From the Program Manager double click onto the File Manager icon in the "Main" group. 3. Change to A: driver, open the NT folder and double click on SETUP.EXE to decompress the setup file. 4. Click "OK" to create PIIXIDE directory on the C drive then go back to Program Manager. 5. From the Program Manager double click onto the Windows NT Setup icon in the "Main" group. 6. Select "Options" and "Add\Remove SCSI Adapters" from the menu bar. 7. The "Select SCSI Adapter Option" dialog box will appear. If the PIIX4 drivers have already installed then option "Remove" can be selected to remove the drivers to enable a fresh installation to take place. Setup will show a message box explaining how removing this driver may prevent Windows NT from starting correctly. Select "OK", Exit the setup program and reboot the system. To install the PIIX4 drivers select "Other (Requires a disk from a hardware manufacturer)" from the "Adapter:" list box. 8. The "Insert Diskette" dialog box will appear. Type the driver install -ation path "C:\PIIXIDE" to install the driver. 9. The "Select OEM Option" dialog box will appear. Select "PIIX4 Bus Master IDE Controller" and click "OK". 10. The "Select SCSI Adapter Option" dialog box will reappear with "PIIX4 Bus Master IDE Controller" now appearing in the "Adapter:" list box. Click on the "Install" button. 11. The "Windows NT Setup" dialog box will appear prompting for the path of the installation files. Click on the "Continue" button. 12. If installation was successful, the "SCSI Adapter Setup" dialog box will reappear, and "PIIX4 Bus Master IDE" will be listed. The PIIX4 drivers for Windows NT driver would have been installed. 13. Select "Close" to exit "SCSI Aapter Setup", exit "Windows NT Setup", and reboot the system.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
