SiS160 Series Wireless LAN Adapter Driver Setup Readme File

To install Windows 98/Me/Win2000/WinXP drivers, please run SETUP.EXE in this directory;
To uninstall Windows 98/Me/Win2000/WinXP  drivers, please run Control_Panel->
Add/Remove_Program->SiS160 Series Wireless LAN Driver

To install drivers for other O.S, please see README file under each
driver directory.


To update the driver, just run SETUP.EXE directly. SETUP will overwrite
the old driver with the current one.

Please make sure the SiS160 Wireless Card has been plug in on slot before you run SETUP.EXE. 

Setup Switch Description
------------------------

You can run "Setup -s" for desired operation. For example,
run "Setup -s" for silent installing driver.
Or add a line "CmdLine=-s" in the [Startup] section of file Setup.ini
then just run Setup without any switch.
The switches are

 -ut
  install SiS160Utility
  
 -s
  silent install, 
  *NOTE* 
     .It is strongly recommended that you exit all windows programs before running silent install. 
      When you set "Change_to_OEMName=1", you need to do copy oem.iss to setup.iss.
      When you set "Change_to_OEMName=0", you need to do copy sis.iss to setup.iss.

  The log file is like below:

    The list of the ResultCode defined in InstallShied 5.1:
     -0 Success.
     -1 General error.
     -2 Invalid mode.
     -3 Required data not found in the Setup.iss file.
     -4 Not enough memory available.
     -5 File does not exist.
     -6 Cannot write to the response file.
     -7 Unable to write to the log file.
     -8 Invalid path to the InstallShield Silent response file.
     -9 Not a valid list type (string or number).
     -10 Data type is invalid.
     -11 Unknown error during setup.
     -12 Dialogs are out of order.
     -51 Cannot create the specified folder.
     -52 Cannot access the specified file or folder.
     -53 Invalid option selected  

 -r InstallShield will generate a silent installation file(setup.iss) which is a record of the installation input in the Windows folder(ex: c:\windows\setup.log)
    You can record a new setup.iss file which you want and then replace the default setup.iss
    The default setup.iss will install driver and utility on WinXP

  (i)Set display name OEM :Change_to_OEMName=1
     Set display name SiS :Change_to_OEMName=0
  (ii)Set ME install complete after restart system :TwoPhaseInstallForME=1

Win2000/WinXP Setup Limitation
------------------------
Please do not use SILENT INSTALL after remove network device. Please restart computer after remove network device then doing silent install.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
