Introduction
------------
Perle Systems has made available the latest version of the 594 Controller
Software on the Web. Existing 594 users may download the software free of
charge.
Software updates for the 594 are split into 9 files:
594.exe - 594e Base Controller Software Update Kit
594netwk.exe - 594e Network Controller Software Update Kit
594eip.exe - 594e IP Routing Controller Software Update Kit
594eiv.exe - 594e IP Routing with VPN Controller Software Update Kit
594t.exe - 594T Base Controller Software Update Kit
594tip.exe - 594T IP Routing Controller Software Update Kit
594tiv.exe - 594T IP Routing with VPN Controller Software Update Kit
pcutild.exe - 594 PC Utility Software Update Kit for DOS
pcutili.exe - 594 PC Utility Software Update Kit for Windows
Run the .exe file to extract the Update Kit into the current directory.
594e Base Controller Software Update Kit (594.exe):

The 594e Base Controller Software update kit will create
the following diskettes:
594e Base Controller Software Diskette
594 Controller Setup Diskette
You will need two 1.44 Meg 3 1/2" floppy diskettes.
It is recommended that you use new diskettes.
To start the update program, run the batch file "u594.bat".
The update program will guide you through the process of creating
the diskettes.
594e Network Controller Software Update Kit (594netwk.exe):

The 594e Network Controller Software update kit will create
the following diskette:
594e Network Controller Software Diskette
You will need one 1.44 Meg 3 1/2" floppy diskette.
It is recommended that you use a new diskette.
To start the update program, run the batch file "u594netw.bat".
The update program will guide you through the process of creating
the diskette.
594e IP Routing Controller Software Update Kit (594eip.exe):

You need to provide a valid password before you can download this
update kit from the Web.
This 594e IP Routing Controller Software update kit will create
the following diskettes:
594e IP Routing Controller Software Diskette
594 Controller Setup Diskette
You will need two 1.44 Meg 3 1/2" floppy diskettes.
It is recommended that you use new diskettes.

The 594 PC Utility Software update kit for DOS will create
a PC Utility installation diskette for DOS for the language you have
selected (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, or Japanese).
You will need one 1.44 Meg 3 1/2" floppy diskette.
It is recommended that you use a new diskette.
To start the update program, run the batch file "upcutild.bat".
The update program will guide you through the process of creating
the diskette.
See your original 594 manual for DOS PC Utility installation instructions.
If you do not wish to take advantage of new functionality, you do not need
to download the DOS PC Utility. Your existing configuration will work
without change.
The DOS PC Utility version available for Web download is the latest
released version. The software revision number displayed during startup
may be different from the Controller Software release number.
594 PC Utility Software Update Kit for Windows (pcutili.exe):
-------------------------------------------------------------
The 594 PC Utility Software update kit for Windows will create
a set of two PC Utility installation diskettes for Windows for
the language you have selected (English, French, German,
Italian, Spanish, or Japanese).
You will need two 1.44 Meg 3 1/2" floppy diskettes.
It is recommended that you use new diskettes.
To start the update program, run the batch file "upcutili.bat".
The update program will guide you through the process of creating
the diskettes.
If you do not wish to take advantage of new functionality, you do not need
to download the PC Utility for Windows. Your existing configuration
will work without change.
The version of PC Utility for Windows available for Web download is the
latest released version. The software revision number displayed during
startup may be different from the Controller Software release number.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
