Win 9X S3 Chip Driver Installations.txt Driver File Contents (S3Trio.zip)

HAVE DISK INSTALLATION (requiring WinZip)

NOTE: To do this "Have Disk" installation, you must first have WinZip:
(http://www.winzip.com) installed on your computer.

Also, these instructions are written for Windows 98.
The process is very similar for Windows 95 and Windows Millennium.

STEP 1 - Extract the drivers
	 1) Download the appropriate driver from our website.
Be sure to note the folder into which it downloads.

	 2) Right-click on the driver download and choose:
WinZip => Extract to...; when the WinZip window pops up, Agree to the terms
and create a new directory in which to extract the files (something like C:\junk).

	 3) Make sure that "All files" is checked on the left side of that window.

	 4) Then click the "Extract" button in the top right corner.

STEP 2 - Set to Standard VGA

	 1) Go into your Device Manager:
Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/Device Manager.

	 2) Click on the plus (+) next to: Display Adapters.

	 3) Double-click on the listing for your video card.

	 4) Select the tab: Drivers.

	 5) Click on the button: Update Drivers. This will start a Wizard.

	 6) Click "Next" on the first Wizard screen.

	 7) Select to: Display a list of all drivers (2nd option).

	 8) Click on: Show All Hardware.

	 9) For Manufacturer, scroll to the top of the list and select:
Standard Display Adapters.

	10) For Models, select: Standard Display Adapter (VGA), then click: Next.

	11) You may get a message that the driver was not written for the card.
Just click "OK" on that message.

	12) Keep clicking OK, Next, and/or Finish until the system prompts you to reboot.

STEP 3 - Install the new drivers.

	 1) Right-click on the desktop wallpaper and choose Properties.

	 2) Go to the Settings tab and click on Advanced at the bottom.

	 3) Go to the Adapter tab and click on Change
(Windows may build a driver information database at this point).

	 4) Click on Next (if the screen says "This wizard searches for updated
drivers for...").

	 5) Click on "Display a list of drivers in a specific location,"
and then click Next (Windows may build a driver information database at this point).

	 6) Make sure the correct Model is highlighted in the list, and then
click the Have Disk button in the bottom right corner.

	 7) Click on Browse and double-click the C:\junk folder
(or whatever you named the folder).

	 8) Click on OK.

NOTE: If at any time during the installation Windows says it cannot find a certain
file, you will have to Browse back to that C:\junk folder. Windows occasionally
forgets where to look!

	 9) Reboot the computer when asked.

(You can delete the C:\junk folder when the installation is done and
the computer is rebooted. It is no longer needed.)
