Readme file for DIGI 6.0 FastPort firmware release with DigiLpr Windows printing
	 utility April 96

ABOUT WIN95LPR.EXE (Digi International's Windows 95/98 lpr printing tool)
Starting with firmware version 6.00 of the MiLAN Technology Fastport line of printer servers, a Windows 95/98 utility titled win95lpr.exe will be shipped. This utility allows users of Windows 95/98 or other winsock'ed systems to print from their local machine to Fastport print server connected printers. The utility requires that the local machine be configured with a winsock.dll (standard with Win95/98 and WinNT).

ABOUT INSTALLING WIN95LPR.EXE
To install this utility, users must first extract the setup
utility from the diskette to a local drive (see readme.txt on distribution
diskette) Once the utility is extracted, run the setup program from Windows.
The setup utility will guide you through your choices, and will properly
install and configure the utility.

ABOUT USING WIN95LPR.EXE
Once the setup procedure is finished, users must perform two
steps to use the utility. First, users must run the win95lpr utility, and
choose "queues - add queue" and fill in the values in this screen. The
field titled "local printer-port name" should be a short descriptive name
for the printer such as "xerox_49" or "KodakXLS". The local printer-port
name can be a maximum of 8 characters long due to directory name length
limitation. Once that is done, users must next go into the Windows
control panel / printers screen. Windows 95/98 will ask the user to choose
an appropriate printer driver. If Windows 95/98 asks whether this is a
a local or network printer, users should choose "local" printer. Windows
will then show a list of ports to connect the driver to, and users
should choose the "Windows port name" they created in step one.
Click OK and you are ready to print.

PRINTING TO OLDER MODEL MIL-3000 AND MIL-3100
        FASTPORTS WITH FIRMWARE => 3.5 < 4.8
When printing to the parallel port remove the _p1 or type in
raw in lower case letters only in the "Choose from this list of
print-queues on the FastPort." And for printing to the serial port
use raw-s in lower case letters only.

Please refer to the release 6.0 manual addendum for complete
instructions on installation and use of the Digilpr tool.
