QUESTER II V.90 Release Notes

General:

A Quester II V.90 Modem is a Quester II V.34 Modem
(GDC P/N S-060A202-001) that has been upgraded with new
Flashrom code (Version 6.4.2.9 or higher) to support
V.90 (56K). Only a Quester II with flash memory GDC
P/N S-060A202-001 modem can be upgraded.

Features added :

V.90 Analog (Client) Modem mode of operation
DTE rate of 230.4kbps
Additional V.90 commands and connect messages
(Refer to Quester II V.90 Manual Addendum for details.)

NOTE:
The V.90 standard provides the ability for a V.90 analog
client modem to connect to a V.90 digital modem at down
line speeds from 28Kbps to 56Kbps. Currently the max speed
allowed in the U.S. is 53Kbps. Typical connections average

analog line. For more information see the application brief
on www.gdc.comweb site.

The Quester II V.90 modem requires additional program space

, the following features and options found in the Quester
II V.34 modem are no longer available:

• MNP protocol (V.42/V.42 bis will be used exclusively)
• Alphanumeric Help Screen
• V25 bis Dialer

• Analog Loopback (for lower speed modulations)

NOTE:
You can restore these features by accessing the GDC internet site
at www.gdc.com to download and install Quester V.34 software. The
site also provides complete instructions for this procedure.
