INSTALL.TXT Driver File Contents (snmp1.zip)

		  Creating SNMPc 4.0 Vendor Disks

			August 8, 1995

We are now using Install Shield from Stirling Software. We have made an
extensible installation script now. Your vendor disk must include the files
vendor.txt, bitview.ini, and any compressed (.Z/.#) files listed in the
bitview.ini file. The formats look like this:

VENDOR.TXT---------------------------------------------------------
Selection 1
Selection 2
Selection 3
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The user is prompted with whatever is listed in this file. Then, it looks for
the section in the bitview.ini file with the same label:

BITVIEW.INI--------------------------------------------------------
[Selection 1]
disk1=My Product Disk #1
file1=testing.z
mib1=abc.mib
mib2=xyz.mib
hub1=enterprises.343*,abc.hub
hub2=objectid.0,xyz.hub
ico1=enterprises.343.1,abc.ico
ico2=enterprises.343.2,def.ico
ico3=objectid.0,xyz.ico
dis1=1.3.4.2.3.4.3.2.3.5.3,Abc Device
prog1=,Read Me,notepad.exe readme.txt,
prog2=My Group,My Application,myapp.exe,apiexec\

[Selection 2]
disk1=My Product Disk #1
disk2=My Product Disk #2
file1=stuff.1
file2=stuff.2
...

[Selection 3]
...
-------------------------------------------------------------------
With all the entries in each section, the installer looks for each label with a
sequential number after it (xxx1, xxx2, xxx3...).

Compressed files should be made with the install shield compress program and
are just directory tree images that will be expanded into the installed SNMPc
directory. You can use the Install Shield splitter program to split your
compressed file if it is too large to fit on a disk. You would then list with
"disk#" and "file#" each of the disk names to prompt the user with, and what
the compressed file names are.	The disk name can be any text string. If the
install script finds the file on the current disk, it will not prompt you for
the next disk. in the CD version, it won't prompt you for anything since it can
find all the files it needs.

The mib# entries get added to names.txt, hub# get added to hubnames.txt ico#
get added to autoico.txt, and dis# get added to discover.dat. The disk name
can be any text string.

You can also add program manager icons. You add them with "prog#" and the
parameters are "group,name,command line,path" with no spaces. If you don't
supply a program group, it will be put in the SNMPc directory.	Paths are
relative to the installed snmpc directory, so any program items you add should
be under the SNMPc directory.
