1.) Overview
============

The PC Card Manager is the 32-bit successor of the well-tried MELCOPY utility.
It offers a native Windows GUI and all MELCOPY features, plus some useful
enhancements:

    - Copy files to PC Cards
    - Copy PC Card contents to files
    - Compare PC Card with file(s)
    - Compute CRC checksum over PC Card (regions)
    - Linear FLASH: Erase Card / Blank Check
    - Perform a surface scan on ATA cards
    - Format SRAM- or ATA PC Cards with FAT file system
    - Socket Status
    - Analyse PC Card
    - Edit PC Card / file

As formerly MELCOPY, PCM is completely format independed. PC Cards are
treated as a binary array of bytes.

PCM handles SRAM, linearFLASH and ATA (FLASH and hard disks). PC Card type and
size are detected automatically whenever possible.

2.) Requirements
================

Operating-System
	PCM has been tested on the operating systems:
    	- Windows 9x/Me
    	- Windows NT 4.0
    	- Windows 2000
	Because it is a true 32-bit application, PCM will not run under DOS
	or Windows 3.x !

Drivers
    A CSM PC Card driver supporting the IoCtl32 API is required. At this time,
    the following products are available:
        - OmniDrive Professional
        - SoftDrive Win 95/98
        - MEL-PC/32
        - SoftDrive Win 2000

3.) PCM Shipping Contents
=========================

PCM ships as a single setup file SETUP.EXE.
The setup contains the PCM executable and the windows help file.

4.) What setup does
===================

Setup simply creates an application directory in the program files folder
and extracts the PCM files to this directory.
A PCM group will be created in the start menu and a PCM icon will be added
to the desktop.

There are no files to be copied to windows-directories, nor will setup
add extensive registry extensions.
