SoundMAX(R) WDM Driver Version: 5.12.01.3504
Installer Version: 3.20.025
DSndUp.exe Version: 1.0.0.3
Microsoft Setup Migration Dll (Migrate.dll): 5.00.2195.1608
Props16.dll: No version available
Props32.dll: 5.00.2195.1620

Fixed in 5.12.01.3504

	* Added new Installer design for reduced size package;
ZIP file size is now less than 4 MB.

	* #1704 - Fixes problem where Surround , LFE and Center
may be muted when using certain CNR cards. The volume
returns if the volume sliders for the specific channel
are touched, followed by touching the master volume
control. The behavior returns (rear chanels are muted)
after returning from suspend. This problem was independent
	  of codec, chipset, and OS.

	* #1720 - Fixed problem where record noise could be heard
from the microphone input in 8 bits on ICH4 platforms.
This problem affects only ICH4 chipsets.

	* #1721 - Fixed problem where, on all Via based Platforms,
the repeated suspend and resumes may cause the sound to
play back fast until another suspend and resume is
performed. This problem affects only VIA 686 and VIA 8233
	  chipsets.

	* #1794 - Fixed problem where in Simplified Chinese, the
"Must be an Administrator" warning is not localized. This
occurred when trying to uninstall while logged into a
non-administrator account. This problem was independent
	  of codec, chipset, and OS.

	* #1830 - Fixed problem where the line-in recording is
noisy on the Windows moviemaker. This would only happen
on platforms where the BIOS does not power up the codec.
This problem affects only AD1881A codecs with ICH0, ICH1,
	  ICH2, ICH3, and ICH4 chipsets.

	* #1833 - Fixed problem where audio was lost upon suspend
and resume in Win ME on ICH4 platforms with AD1981a codecs.

	* #1839 - Fixed problem where audio would be lost upon a
suspend/resume. This occurred on systems with an external
EQ that gets powered up by the BIOS. This problem affects
	  only 440MX, ICH0, ICH1, ICH2, and ICH3 chipsets.

	* #1840 - Fixed problem where setup.exe install does not
work with a space after the PCI IDs in the INF file.
This problem affects only Win 2000 and Win XP.

	* #1848 - Fixed problem where Clicks and Pops could be
heard when playing wave file and the Speaker EQ is enabled.
This occurs on 198x CODEC systems with Speaker EQ enabled.
This problem affects only AD198x codecs.

	* #1877 - Added new bitmaps for SoundMAX Cadenza and SoundMAX
	  Flat Driver.

	* #1900 - Fixed problem where driver is Yellow Banged in the
device manager on some ICH4 Platforms with I/O ports disabled.
This problem affects only ICH4 chipsets.

	* #1903 - Fixed problem where setup will hang when trying to
install the driver. This occurs only if an INF file is set
to read only. Installations from Read-Only media should
proceed normally now. This problem was independent of codec,
	  chipset, and OS.

	* #1910 - Fixed problem where creation of driver version
registry entry by install was broken due to the changes
in inf file syntax. This problem was independent of codec,
	  chipset, and OS.

	* #1937 - Fixed problem with error on reboot: "Windows has
detected that cleanup.exe has caused an error. Do you
want to send this to Microsoft?" . Problem has been
discovered on XP Professional. This problem was
independent of codec, chipset, and OS.

	* Made miscellaneous INF changes.

Fixed in 5.12.01.3503

	* #1871 - Fixed problem where crackles were heard when playing
audio CD under Windows XP & W2KSP2. This occurred on ICH4
	  systems only.

	* #1901 - Fixed problem where sound goes away after DVD play.
This problem affects only ICH4 chipsets with Win 2000 or
	  Win XP.

	* #1906 - Fixed problem where HCT PC Audio Requirements Test
fails. Affects only 20-bit operation in Wave PCI mode.
This problem affects only ICH4 chipsets.

Fixed in 5.12.01.3501

	* #1832 - Fixed problem where upgrading to 5.10.00.3500
from older Revisions would display a warning that this
is an older version. This was fixed by changing the
version format back to 5.12.01.xxxx. This problem was
independent of codec, chipset, and OS.

	* #1854 - Fixed problem where VrefOut does not get enabled
even though INF and registry look ok. This was introduced
in version 5.10.00.3500. An INF workaround for 3500 was to
set MicBoostVal=0. This problem affects only AD198x codecs
	  with VrefOut.

	* #1856 - Fixed problem where moving recording slider to
the bottom mutes the recording source. Since recording
sources are only amplified (never attenuated), muting
makes no sense. The bottom of the recording slider
is 0dB. This problem was independent of codec, chipset,
	  and OS.

	* #1862 - Fixed problem where the Mic Boost value changes
after suspend. The value is now restored properly.
This problem affects only AD1981A and AD1980 codecs.

	* #1874 - Fixed problem where the DACZ bit gets cleared when
Mic Boost is toggled (possibly causing pops in the audio
stream). This problem affects only AD198x codecs with
	  Mic Boost feature.

value in the INF did not affect actual value. This is
operating system, chipset, and codec independent.

	* Made miscellaneous INF changes.

	* Added INF disable key for "Voice". This is used on ICH
multi-channel systems with a 6/9 codec to control the
presence of the MicIn DMA channel. If the disable key is not
present, the MicIn channel is disabled.

	* #1418 Fixed problem where system would hang when suspended
while playing MIDI. Occurred on VIA 8233 systems only.

	* #1439/1455/1456 Added feature to Installer setup to allow
	  setting of default media.

	* #1535/1552/1553 Fixed problem where audio (looping MIDI,
DVD,looping wave files) would eventually stop playing.
This problem is not seen on all platforms. A change required
for Windows XP compatibility caused the problem. The
problem occurred in the flat build only (with Windows 98SE).
This problem did not occur with SoundMAX2 or SoundMAX3 or on
	  other platforms.

	* #1567 Corrected problem that caused WHQL failure in KS Audio
Position Accuracy test case 16.26:2.1. This problem occured
on Bannister systems only under Windows XP.

	* Made miscellaneous INF file updates.

Date Release History updated: 8/31/2001

SoundMAX(R) WDM Driver Version: 5.12.01.3032
Installer Version: 3.00.028
SoundMAX Sensaura Driver Interface: 5.00.2000.2214

	* Driver modified to support S/PDIF 44.1KHz in AD1886A.

	* # 1402. Added code to address a problem with 440MX hardware
and Wave PCI. When the driver detects 440MX hardware, it
now uses a WaveCyclic driver instead of the WavePCI method.
This is only used for 440MX hardware.

The Sensaura component of SoundMAX2 and SoundMAX3 driver is
built into the wavePCI driver (therefore, no Sensaura
            support on 440MX platforms).

	* # 1288 and 1272. Added an INF switch which allows you to
limit the number of supported streams. This was needed to
fix a "breakup" issue with lip-sync and dvdplay.

	* Made miscellaneous INF file updates.

slider if PCBeep control is enabled on the mixer.

	* #1437 Implemented request to move silent install logs from
root directory to subdirectory of SoundMAX install (for
	  Flat or SoundMAX3).

	* #1444 Fixed problem where Installer asked for migrate.dll
after the reboot on Windows 98 SE / Me. This problem
occurred upon installation of the SoundMAX application.

	* #1454 Fixed access privilege problem with removal of
Flat or SoundMAX3 application by guest user on W2K.
SoundMAX now can only be uninstalled by user with
	  administration privileges.

	* #1273: Fixed problem with CNR cards which have AD1886 as
primary codec. In this configuration the codec PCM volume
register (0x18) was not updated correctly which would cause
volume changes to the front speakers. This happened only on
systems with 4 or 6 channels.

	* #1353: Fixed problem where driver verifier caused Blue
Screen under Windows XP. Changed stream code to release
mapping spinlock when calling GetMapping and ReleaseMapping.
Note: In this item, "driver verifier" refers to the
tool that comes with Windows XP.

	* #1371: Fixed calculation of capture (ADC) values. This
problem occured on systems that set a xxxRMax value to
something other than 0xF or 0x8.

	* #1403: Restored volume settings on 4/6 channel output CNR
	  cards upon resume from suspend.

SoundMAX(R) WDM Driver Version: 5.12.01.3024 (not official release)

	* 1227: Fixed a problem with audio dropout with VIA 686
chipsets. Problem related to getting and releasing mappings.
When playing long wave file audio will drop out for extended
          periods of time.

	* Added dynamic pin topology for wave miniport. This allows
functions which are not used to be disabled. E.g., AD1886
codec used but the hardware motherboard implementation does
not support SPDIF, so the SPDIF pin is disabled. This is
          implemented for flat driver only.

	* INF setting available to enable/disable SPDIF channel (for
dynamic topology). On codecs with SPDIF channel, if key does
not exist, the default is "SPDIF Channel available" (01).

UseSPDIFChannel = 00 ; SPDIF Channel NOT available
		UseSPDIFChannel = 01      ; SPDIF Channel available

	* Fixed a problem which caused failures in the WHQL ACPI
Compliance test. This failure would only be seen in
version 5.12.01.3018 of the WDM driver when SoundMAX 2.1
was installed. The solution was to remove automatic power
management which was added in 5.12.01.3018. ADI will

text file; it is not included in the driver release.

	* Added DRM (Digital Rights Management) code to driver
DRM prevents the recording of copy protected audio
content. DRM will eventually be a WHQL requirement.
