Connecting the Hard drive to your PC in Windows 98
1. When you first connect your hard drive to your computer, windows will pop up "Found New Hardware"
2. It will prompt you to install the drivers for the USB device. (Proceed to Install Windows 98SE Drivers)

Installing Windows 98SE Drivers

1. Please locate the "Browse CD Contents" button, open the "Drivers" folder.
2. In the "Drivers" folder, locate the "Windows 98 Driver"folder
3. In the "Windows 98 Driver" you can see a "Win98 Driver A" & "Win98 Driver B"
4. Both the "Win98 Driver A & B" can be used for your Windows 98.


******************* Optional USB 2.0 Drivers **********************************

Additional USB 2.0 Drivers:
1. In the "Drivers" folder you can locate "USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver"
2. There are 2 versions, "NEC chipset USB 2.0 Host Controller" & "VIA Chipset USB 2.0 Host Controller"
3. To determine which chipset you have, you can either look at the USB 2.0 PCI Host controller card or go 
   to device manager to determine it.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
