Accton Technology Corporation EN2212 PCMCIA Ethernet Adapters < I > To configure this adapter and install software, please type: INSTALL <Enter> and follow the "1Step" installation/configuration program. < II > Software Installation Hints 1. The Accton EN2212 PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter must be enabled before any of the drivers will work. An enabler program, ACCOPEN.EXE, is included on the installation diskette. This program can be installed in CONFIG.SYS as a DOS device driver, or it can be executed from the DOS command prompt. ACCOPEN.EXE supports three kinds of environments. If the Card Service Driver is installed, ACCOPEN.EXE will enable the PCMCIA Adapter by using the services supplied by the Card Service. The Card Service provides central resource management for multiple PCMCIA cards and is the preferred environment to use PCMCIA Cards. If the Databook CardTalk Socket Service Driver is installed, ACCOPEN.EXE will enable the PCMCIA Adapter by going through this Socket Service. Because the socket service does not provide resource management, using multiple PCMCIA Cards at the same time may result in conflicts in resource requirements. This means the PCMCIA Card may not be able to be enabled. If neither Card Service nor Socket Service is installed, ACCOPEN.EXE will try to enable the PCMCIA Card by programming the PCMCIA controller directly. The Databook TCIC and Intel 82365SL and their compatible controllers are supported. The same caveat for the socket service also applies here. 2. For those who installed EMM386.EXE in CONFIG.SYS, please exclude a range of memory from this program. The PCMCIA Card Enabler, ACCOPEN.EXE, will use this space to read Ethernet ID and other information stored on the PCMCIA Card. Although ACCOPEN.EXE uses only 4K bytes of memory, Card Service and other system software may require more to function properly. It is recommended to reserve at least 8K for this purpose. The more PCMCIA cards you intend to use at the same time, the more free memory you need. Example 1: DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D400-D5FF This example excludes 8K bytes from EMM386. This is the bare minimum for most Card Services to work. Example 2: DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D000-D0FF This example excludes only 4K worth of memory. This may not be enough for the Card Service to work. Example 3: DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D000-DFFF This example reserves 64K bytes of memory. This is sufficient in most cases. 3. For those who installed Card and Socket Services device drivers in yours CONFIG.SYS, please execute ACCOPEN.EXE after those device drivers since ACCOPEN is a Card Services Client and should only be activated after the Card and Socket Services drivers are activated. Example 1:(DataBook CardTalk) DEVICE=SS_2.SYS (Socket Service driver) DEVICE=CARDTALK.SYS (Card Service driver) DEVICE=ACCOPEN.EXE /PORT=300 /INT=5 Example 2:(SystemSoft CardSoft) DEVICE=SS365SL.EXE (Socket Service driver) DEVICE=CS.EXE (Card Service driver) DEVICE=CSALLOC.EXE C:\path\CSALLOC.INI DEVICE=ACCOPEN.EXE /PORT=300 /INT=5 Example 3:(Phoenix PCMPlus) DEVICE=PCMSSDB.EXE (Socket Services driver) DEVICE=PCMCS.EXE (Card Service driver) DEVICE=ACCOPEN.EXE /PORT=300 /INT=5 < III > To use Accton MPX driver: Accton MPX driver is a high performance NetWare 3.x ODI driver. It includes two drivers: MPXPCM.COM : NetWare DOS/ODI driver (A:\NETWARE\ODI\DOSODI\MPXPCM.COM) MPXPCM.LAN : NetWare 3.x server driver (A:\NETWARE\ODI\SERVER\MPXPCM.LAN) To run MPXPCM.LAN as a server driver, you must modify STARTUP.NCF as follows: SET MAXIMUM PHYSICAL RECEIVE PACKET SIZE = 4202 and use LOAD & BIND command to start the server driver. Workstation driver MPXPCM.COM does not have any special requirement. You can run MPXPCM.COM in place of PCMMLID.COM. For example: LSL MPXPCM IPXODI NETX . . To achieve maximum performance, you must change server and workstation drivers to MPXPCM.LAN and MPXPCM.COM simultaneously. Otherwise, you just get the same performance as that of a NE2000 compatible driver. Accton MPX driver supports NE2000 mode, and can process Ethernet_II, Ethernet 802.2, and Ethernet 802.3 frame types. The latest driver updates can be downloaded from Accton's BBS: United States (1) 510-226-9832 14400-2400 baud Taiwan (886) 35-770-654 14400-2400 baud For more information, see your Accton Installation Manual.Download Driver Pack
