Samsung PCI Network Driver Installation Guide for NetWare 3.x/4.x Client ======================================================================== Samsung PCI Network Driver Installation for NetWare 3.x Client ============================================================== This document describes how to install Novell NetWare 3.x ODI client software to work with the Samsung PCI Network adapter. 1. Create a directory named NETWARE on your C drive. 2. Insert the NetWare WSGEN disk that came with NetWare 3.x disk into drive A. 3. Copy the following three files to the NETWARE directory on your C drive: LSL.COM IPXODI.COM NETX.COM 4. Remove the NetWare WSGEN disk from drive A. 5. Insert the Samsung PCI Network Driver Disk into drive A. 6. Copy NET.CFG and SE100ODI.COM to the NETWARE directory on your C drive. 7. Check your CONFIG.SYS file to make sure that the following line appears: DEVICE=C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE assuming that \DOS is the directory where you have all your DOS files including SETVER.EXE. 8. Remove the Samsung PCI Network Driver Disk from drive A. 9. Restart your computer. 10. To run NetWare, type the following four commands (in the following sequence) at the C:\NETWARE prompt: LSL SE100ODI IPXODI NETX 11. Change to the network drive (usually F) and login to your network. NOTES1: ======= 1. NETX.EXE (dated 930217) will work with DOS 6.0 or lower version only. You will need NETX.EXE (dated 931117) to work with DOS 6.22. 2. If you choose to use the Netware Client Install program, follow the instructions for Netware 4.x Client Installation document. 3. Remove the line LASTDRIVE=Z from your CONFIG.SYS file, if it exists. 4. Run the NetWare Client Install program that comes with NetWare 4.x. Follow the instructions for the first three steps of the NetWare Client Install program as required. 2. At step 4, press Enter to install the Samsung PCI driver for your adapter. 3. When prompted, insert the Samsung Driver Disk into drive A (or B) and type the following: A:\NOVELL\CLIENT\DOS <ENTER> 4. The Network Board window appears. Select Samsung PCI Ethernet Adapter and press Enter. 5. In the "Network Board" window, press Enter to continue with the NetWare installation. 7. When prompted, insert the appropriate NetWare Client Install disk. 8. Press Enter to exit to the DOS prompt. 9. Restart the computer. 10. To run NetWare, type the following commands (in sequence) at the DOS prompt: LSL SE100ODI IPXODI VLM 11. Change to the network drive (usually F), and login to your network. NOTES2: ======= Make sure your NET.CFG file is setup properly. RX_BUFFERS -- Number of receive buffer in 256 bytes. Valid range from 32 to 128 with 64 (meaning 16K of rx buffer) as the default. LINE_SPEED -- Line speed selection. Can be either 10 or 100. If this keyword is absent, Autonegotiation mode is used (recommended). TX_THRESHOLD -- Transmit threshold. Valid range from 0 to 1500 with 1500 as the default. NODE ADDRESS -- Node ID override. If it is absent, driver will use the one in the serial eeprom (recommended). FULL_DUPLEX -- Full duplex mode. If absent, half duplex mode. This keyword is valid only when LINE_SPEED keyword is specified.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
