Overview
The purpose of this file is to allow for the unattended installation of
Windows NT4.0 Workstation or Server with the SMC EtherEZ/EtherCard adapters.
Supported Adapters:
SMC 8416 EtherEZ
SMC 8216 EtherCard Elite16 Ultra
SMC 8013 EtherCard Elite
SMC 8003 EtherCard Plus
This software distribution has sample unattended scripts for Windows NT 4.0
Workstation and Server.
The sample unattended script is: unattend.txt
Installation Steps:
1) Extract the Compress file.
2) Create a new Subdirectory structure on your Network Installation Server
within the Windows NT distribution share point. The new directory structure
is shown in the example below:
EXAMPLE: F:\WINNT\i386 - Distribution Share Point on Server
ADD: \$OEM$\NET\SMC - Directory Structure
The directory structure once completed should look like this:
EXAMPLE: F:\WINNT\I386\$OEM$\NET\SMC
3) Copy the SMC Drivers into the new SMC subdirectory:
EXAMPLE: unattend.txt
oemsetup.inf
smc8000.dll
smc8000.hlp
smc8000n.sys
smcncdet.dll
4) If you are using your own Unattend.txt file please take note of the
sections below. Please add these sections to your existing script file:
[Unattended]
OemPreinstall = yes
[Network]
InstallAdapters = SelectedAdaptersSection
[SelectedAdaptersSection]
SMC8416 = OEMAdapterParamSection, \$OEM$\NET\SMC
SMC8216 = OEMAdapterParamSection, \$OEM$\NET\SMC
SMC8013 = OEMAdapterParamSection, \$OEM$\NET\SMC
SMC8003 = OEMAdapterParamSection, \$OEM$\NET\SMC
[OEMAdapterParamSection]
Command line execution
Start NT installation with the following command line
{source}\winnt.exe /B /S:{source} /U:{source}\$OEM$\NET\SMC\unattend.txt
Where {source} is the source drive and source directory on the distribution
software server. In this example the share point directory is called
F:\WINNT\I386.
This Example assumes that it is executed from within the I386 Directory.
EXAMPLE: WINNT /B /S:F:\WINNT\I386 /U:F:\WINNT\I386\$OEM$\NET\SMC\UNATTEND.TXT
