SUPPORTED NETWORK CARDS SMC EZ Card 10 Ethernet PCI Network Cards: o SMC1208T o SMC1208BT o SMC1208BTA Content: A) Install ODI/ NDIS 3.0 driver for WFW 3.11 SMC Support drivers for WFW 3.11 SMC supports NDIS 3.0 and DOS/ODI drivers for Windows for Workgroups 3.11. A description of these 2 files follows: Driver name Location Description SMC1208W.386 A:\WFW311 NDIS 3.0 driver in enhanced mode SMC1208.COM A:\DOS SMC EZ Card 10 PCI DOS/ODI driver A) Install ODI/ NDIS 3.0 driver for WFW 3.11 You must make sure that the ODI driver is loaded first before you select the Windows driver. If needed see the readme.txt file in the DOS directory for installing the ODI driver. 1. Run Windows by typing "WIN" at the DOS prompt. 2. Click the "Network" icon in the Main Program Group. 3. Click the "Network Setup" icon in the Network window. 4. Check the drivers button. If it is hidden and cannot be selected, then go to the next step. If it is visible, you still need to go to step 5 to set up a Novell shell. 5. Click the "Networks" button. 6. Select "Install Microsoft Windows Network." Select "Other" and then "Novell Netware Workstation Shell 4.0" for VLM or "...Shell 3.x" for NETX. 7. Click the "OK" button. 8. Select the "Drivers" item from the "Network Setup" dialog box. 9. Select "Add Adapters." The "Add Network Adapter" dialog box appears. 10. If: a. You are installing this SMC network card for the first time, select "Unlisted" or "Updated Network Adapter." Then, click "OK." b. You have installed SMC's network card before, just select the "SMC EZ Card PCI 10 driver" from the drivers list table, select "OK," and then go to step 12. 11. Insert the SMC Driver Diskette in floppy drive A or B, then type the destination drive and path name. Make sure the full path of the directory (i.e., A:\WFW311) is given. Select "OK." Then, you will see the "SMC EZ Card PCI 10 driver" dialog box appear. Select "OK." 12. When the Network Drivers window appears, you can use "Add Adapter" and/or "Add Protocol" to add more network cards (up to four) and protocols. Refer to your Windows for Workgroups manual for more information. Select "Setup" and make the appropriate selection. There are 4 driver types: . Real mode and Enhanced mode NDIS . Enhanced mode NDIS . Real mode NDIS . ODI driver YOU MUST SELECT THE ODI DRIVER TO LET THE NETWARE ODI DRIVER WORK IN WFW 3.11. Select "Close," followed by "OK." 13. When prompted with the "Microsoft Windows Networks Names" box, select "OK." Follow the screen prompts to complete driver installation. 14. At the end of the installation, you will be prompted to accept all the options you selected and restart your computer, or to return to DOS. Restart your computer so your options can take effect. Some specifics of the installation process may vary according to each user's needs. Refer to the Microsoft Windows for Workgroups user manual for more information. NOTE: To connect to a Novell server from within Windows for Workgroups, make sure you are logged on to a NetWare server before starting Windows. Also make sure that you have set up Windows for Workgroups to use Novell NetWare. FYI: The Windows file ODIHLP.EXE needs to be loaded after the ODI driver in the autoexec.bat file. FYI: To install the ODI driver, you will need the NETWARE.DRV file. You can download the current version of this file from Novell's web site. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
