Windows 95 A installation

You will need the diskette packaged with the NetLINE PCI Card as well as
Windows 95 CD or .cab files. Make sure Windows 95 is correctly installed
before you begin installation.

See the NetLINE user guide for instructions on installing the PCI card
into the PCI card slot.  Make absolutely sure the card is seated all 
the way into the PCI slot, and no gold pins are showing in the top of
the slot.  After installing the card, restart the computer.

  1. Windows locates the card as a PCI Ethernet Controller. Select the Next
     button.
  2. The New Hardware Wizard appears and presents three options:
   - "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer".
   - "Do not install any driver". (Windows will not prompt you again.)
   - "Select from a list of alternate drivers".
  3. Select the third option: Select from a list of alternate drivers.
  4. The Select Hardware Type screen appears. Scroll down the list and
     select Network Adapters.
  5. The Select Device Window appears. Click the Have Disk button at the
     bottom of the screen.
  6. The Install from Disk screen appears. Insert the NetLINE diskette into
     the floppy drive.
  7. The cursor will be at the a:\ prompt.
  8. The Select Device screen appears with the name NetLINE PCI Card in the
     window.
  9. Verify that this item is highlighted, then click the OK button. The
     netrtp.inf file and rtl80293.sys files will be installed.
 10. If prompted for the netrtp.inf or rtl80293.sys, enter a:\ for the 
     location of the files.
 11. If prompted for Windows system files on the Win95 CD, indicate the location 
     of the Windows 95 CD or .cab files on the hard drive.
 12. Restart the computer.

Windows 95 B and C installation

See the NetLINE user guide for instructions on installing the PCI card
into the PCI card slot.  Make absolutely sure the card is seated all 
the way into the PCI slot, and no gold pins are showing in the top of
the slot.  After installing the card, restart the computer.

  
  1. The Update Device Driver Wizard appears. It has located a PCI Ethernet
     Controller. Click the Next button.
  2. Insert the NetLINE diskette into the floppy drive.
  3. Windows will search the diskette for the netrtp.inf file and driver for the
     NetLINE card.
  4. Select a:\ for the location of the netrtp.inf file.
  5. Click the Finish button.
  6. If prompted for the netrtp.inf or rtl80293.sys, enter a:\ for the 
     location of the files.
  7. If prompted for Windows system files on the Win95 CD, indicate the location 
     of the Windows 95 CD or .cab files on the hard drive.
  8. Restart the computer when prompted.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
