Current windows 98 Gold, Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, Windows ME (single binary) Driver

 This version of the diskette is NM-06L-2K98ME.  The driver Version 2.50 Build 17 for NetMate 
 and NetMate2 combined support on Windows 98, 98SE, 2000 (with multiprocessor configurations)
 and Millennium. The driver in this release is identical to NM-06L-2K (previous release) which
 was certified for Windows 98, 98SE and 2K by Microsoft.  This version is certified by
 Microsoft for Windows ME, 2000 and 98, whereas the previous version NM-06L-2K was certified for
 Windows 2000 and 98.
 The difference between NM-06L-2K and this version is only in the date field of Netmate.inf
 and Netmate.cpy files to comply to Millennium submittal requirements.
 There are no changes to any other files including Netmate2.sys

******************Special Note about Netbeui protocol *********************************  

 Use the following steps to setup the correct options for Netbeui to operate reliably:

 1.  Open Control Panel by clicking on Start and then Settings and then control panel.
 2.  Double Click on Network
 3.  Choose CATC USB/EtherLink II adaptor and click on Properties.
 4.  In the new dialog box, Click on Advanced folder.
     Note that "Operation Mode" is the only setting available.
     In the pull down menu on the right side, choose "Optimal", if it is not
     set to "Optimal" already.
 5.  Click OK which closes this diaglog box
 6.  Click OK in the Network dialog box
 7.  Reboot the system to make the change effective.

Previous windows 98, 98SE and 2000 driver Versions:

Version 2.50 Build 17 for NetMate and NetMate2 fixed the following problems:
 1.  Work around for Via-USB-chip-set to work in Windows 98SE and 2000 environments.
 2.  Changes related to 9.5 version of WHQL test suite
 3.  Modifications in the Diagnostic interface for proper functionality under Windows 2000
     There is a new version of Diagnostic Utility in this release.
 4.  Performance improvement under Optimal (default) setting.

Version 2.30 Build 15 for NetMate and Netmate2 fixed stability issues related to
 Windows 98 and Windows 98SE when multiple sessions on internet are started using the
 previous release of the NetMate / NetMate2 drivers - Version 2.20 Build 13.

Version 2.20 Build 13 for NetMate and NetMate2 is a Microsoft Windows logo'd version with
 multiprocessor support in Windows 2000 environment.

Version 2.10 Build 9 for NetMate and Netmate2 is a Microsoft Windows logo'd version without 
 multiprocessor support in Windows 2000 environment.

Version 2.03 for NetMate and NetMate2 combined support on Win98 Gold, Win98 SE
 Fixed several problems related to Network stability.  No WHQL testing done.
                 
Version 1.50 for NetMate and Version 2.00 for NetMate2 on Win98 Gold
 First release for NetMate2.  Requires seperate drivers for NetMate and NetMate2.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
