This file contains the original Windows 2000 drivers for this modem, and are available for reference only.  These are not updated drivers, and are the original release drivers for this operating system.  The version number is 2.1.2.164.010c. These drivers are not for use with other modems or operating systems.


Installation Instructions

-----------------

You should print this document for easy reference.   

Installation Process(Windows 2000) :
-----------------


1. Label a blank formatted floppy disk, "Supraexpress 56i Pro PCI Driver files."

2. Insert the disk into the floppy drive.

3. Download the file onto a floppy disk. In your browser, click on the file name, . Your browser should prompt as to where you would like save the file. You should select the floppy drive, "A:\" (without the quotes).

6. When the download is complete, you should disconnect from the internet and close all open 
programs.

7. Extract the files from the downloaded file. Click Start\Run\Browse. Locate the supraexpress56-2380_win2k_010.exe file on the floppy drive, "a:." Click OK and then OK again, or double-click the file icon.

6. A Self-Extractor window should appear.  "C:\Diamond\Update" should appear in the Unzip 
To Folder window. This is the default location. You should accept this location, as the complete set of drivers will not fit on a single floppy disk.  Click on the OK button.

7. After the files have been extracted, review the this readme notepad and print if necessary.  Close this window to exit the extractor program.

8. Power down the system and install the modem into an available PCI slot.  Boot up the system as normal.  Skip this step if the modem has already been installed and listed as Rockwell HCF PCI modem. 

9. Windows will detect modem as new hardware, and the Driver Installation Wizard will open. If the modem has already been installed in this system as a Rockwell HCF PCI modem then select Update Driver in the Device Manager. 

10. Choose to "display a list of known drivers" as opposed to "search for a suitable driver."

11. Point the wizard to the location on your hard drive where you extracted the drivers.  You may need to click "Have Disk" and and type in the path to the drivers.

12. Windows will install a "Supraexpress 56i Pro" driver.

10. Specify the country of use if prompted.

11. You should now verify your installation.


Driver/Installation Verification:

To verify that the updated drivers have been installed, you should do the following:

1) Go to Start > Settings > Control Panels.  Double-click on System, click on the Hardware tab, and click on Device Manager.
2) Click on the + in front of Modems, right-click on the modem and go to Properties.
3) On the Diagnostics tab, click the Query Modem button.  After a few seconds, The ATI commands should contain information, including an ATI3 response of 2.1.2.164.010c, the driver revision for this modem.

This indicates you have successfully upgraded your modem with the appropriate drivers, and that it is installed correctly in Windows.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
