Visioneer One Touch 7600 scanner (parallel port) driver for Windows XP Follow these simple instructions and you should be able to get your Visioneer One Touch 7600 (parallel port) scanner working with Windows XP. Notes: I have Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1 and all updates as of 12/25/02 (used scanner as a Christmas present). I have not tested this with Windows XP Home or with Windows 2000 but I would guess that it works. I have not tested with Paperport however it worked perfectly with Adobe Photoshop 7. Instructions: 1. Unzip all files to a temporary directory (if you haven’t already) 2. Copy the files Maxkernl.dll, Maxcodec.dll, Maxrast.dll, Maxutil.dll, and Pperr.dll to your System32 directory. The System32 directory should be either c:\Windows\System32 or c:\Winnt\System32 depending on how you installed windows. IMPORTANT! BACKUP ANY OF THE ABOVE FILES IF THEY EXIST. I did not have any existing copies of these files but your system may be different. If in doubt back it up!!! You have been warned! 3. Connect your Visioneer One Touch 7600 (parallel port) scanner and turn it on. 4. Run the included 7600P.exe installation file. 5. When prompted click Finish. 6. The driver will finish installing. You should see the "Connecting One Touch Scanner" dialog in the lower left of your screen. 7. If the connection fails you may have to change your parallel port configuration in your systems BIOS. (to enter the BIOS you usually press the del key or the F1 or F2 keys, some systems require different keys. Contact your system manufacturer or local computer store for help with accessing the BIOS). Make sure the parallel port is set to EPP! If you don't know what that means contact your systems tech support hotline or your local computer store. 8. Enjoy your Visioneer One Touch 7600 (parallel port) scanner with Windows XP NOTE: You may have read on Visioneers website that they could not write Windows XP drivers for this scanner do to changes made Microsoft. This is Bull (you fill in the next word). It would have been very simple for them to provide both Windows 2000 and Windows XP drivers for this scanner! Why do they refuse to support they customers....your guess is as good as mine. I did not write these drivers all I did was find the required .dll files and figure out how to get it to work. If you have questions and have followed all the directions above you may e-mail me at marvin@paschals.net I will not respond to questions already answer by these instructions, questions about any other scanner than the One Touch 7600 parallel port, stupid questions. Enjoy!Download Driver Pack
