1. Preface
This Readme file contains the latest information pertaining to the
use of EpsonNet WebManager. Please read this file before using
EpsonNet WebManager. You should also read online help to find out about
existing limitations and problems.

2. Hardware and Software Requirements
It is recommended that EpsonNet WebManager be used with the following
hardware and software:
2-1. Server

CPU: Pentium series 300 MHz or better
(Pentium II or later is recommended)
RAM: 256 MB or more
Hard disk space: 100 MB or more
(1 GB or more is required to use the driver
management function.)
[Operating System]
Windows NT 4.0 *1:
Workstation, Server, Terminal Server Edition SP6 or later
Windows 2000:
Professional, Server, Advanced Server SP3 or later
Windows XP:
Home Edition, Professional
Windows Server 2003
*1 When installing the software, System DLL updates and
a computer restart may be performed.
To use the driver management function, Internet Explorer 4.01
or later must be installed.
Over an internal network, If you use this software with the
operating system that is not licensed as server software by
Microsoft Corporation, it may cause a breach of the license
agreement with Microsoft Corporation. For further details,
please confirm the use license agreement for the operating
system that you use.

The following Web browsers are recommended to access EpsonNet
WebManager:

* The latest version is recommended.
Although the following Web browsers have been confirmed to work
with EpsonNet WebManager, some problems may occur. Refer to
"5. Browser Related Problems" for more details.

- A screen resolution of 1024 x 768 at 256 or more colors is
recommended. If the setting is 256 colors or less, Java Applets

b. Network Interface Cards
EpsonNet WebManager supports the use of these cards only with the
printers they are designed for. Refer to the manual of the respective
card for details.

3. Limitations
3-1. (Problem)
When the name of a group starts with a space, the space is not displayed
in the browser.
(Solution)
Although it's possible to use a space at the beginning of a name,
the space is ignored when displayed by the browser.
3-2. (Problem)
On the Device Details, Layout, Edit Layout, and other pages,
the browser may close if you click the browser's Refresh button.
When the browser closes, a browser or OS error message may also
be displayed.
(Solution)
Start the browser again.
3-3. (Problem)
On the Device Details:Device Settings page, an error may occur
when numerical settings such as Print Density are changed.
(Solution)
The numerical values that can be set may vary depending on the
printer. Confirm the possible numerical values for your printer
by checking the printer's control panel or documentation.
4. General Problems
If more than one solution is given, choose the one best suited to
your needs.
4-1. (Problem)
When EpsonNet WebManager and EPSON Status Monitor 2 or 3 are both
installed on a computer, you are unable to monitor printer status
using EPSON Status Monitor.
(Solution 1)
Download and install the latest Windows XP supported version of
EPSON Status Monitor 2 or 3 from our Web site.
(Solution 2)
Install EpsonNet WebManager again.
4-2. (Problem)
After uninstalling the Driver Management Function from EpsonNet
WebManager using Add/Remove Programs, the Driver Storage Tool
short-cut icon remains on the Programs menu.
(Solution 1)
Wait until the operating system automatically refreshes itself and removes
the icon.
(Solution 2)
Restart your computer.
4-3. (Problem)
On the Edit Layout page, a horizontal, white line is displayed
after scrolling up or down and Java Applets are no longer displayed
correctly.
(Solution 1)
Minimize or maximize the browser window, then restore the
window to its original size.
(Solution 2)
Refresh the page.
4-4. (Problem)
On the Device Details:Properties page, only the MAC address is displayed
after changing the device's IP address.
(Solution)
Refresh the page.
4-5. (Problem)
If there are multiple network interface cards present on a computer
with EpsonNet WebManager installed, some devices may not be
discovered even when Local is On under Broadcast Settings(Use IPX Packet).
(Solution)
Specify the IPX network address in the Network Address box under
Broadcast Settings(Use IPX Packet) and then search again.
4-6. (Problem)
Trap settings are not configured when a device is registered by IP Address
or Hosts File, even though the Error Log Collection setting is on.
(Solution)
Turn on the printer, turn the Error Log Collection setting off and then
turn it back on.
4-7. (Problem)
If EpsonNet WebManager is uninstalled and then reinstalled before restarting
the computer, EpsonNet WebManager may not work well.
(Solution)
Restart the computer before reinstalling EpsonNet WebManager.
5. Browser Related Problems
If more than one solution is given, choose the one best suited to
your needs.
5-1. Internet Explorer
5-1-1. (Problem)
If you use the mouse to open a menu while a page is loading, an
error message appears stating that the page has expired.
(Solution)
Refresh the page.
5-1-2. (Problem)
When using Internet Explorer 5.5, error message dialogs
may appear blank.
(Solution 1)
Install Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2.
(Solution 2)
Use the latest version of Internet Explorer or Netscape.
5-1-3. (Problem)
When using Internet Explorer 5.01, the sort icons (up/down arrows)
on the Search Results page do not work.
(Solution)
Use the latest version of Internet Explorer or Netscape.
5-1-4. (Problem)
In a Mac OS environment, if you use the mouse to change the size
of the browser window the page starts to reload and an error message
appears.
(Solution)
Click the browser's Back button.
5-1-5. (Problem)
In a Mac OS environment, some menu headings are not displayed
after refreshing the page.
(Solution)
Refresh the page again. If the problem persists, restart the browser.
5-1-6. (Problem)
When using Internet Explorer 5.01 in a Windows 98 or Windows 95
environment, driver distribution stops before completion.
(Solution)
Use Internet Explorer 5.5 or later.
5-2. Netscape 7.x
5-2-1. (Problem)
If you click a device or group icon several times, the window
does not display correctly and the General, List, and other tabs
cannot be selected.
(Solution 1)
Minimize the browser window, then restore the window to its
original size.
(Solution 2)
Refresh the page.
5-2-2. (Problem)
When specifying the Hosts File or Background Image file,
you cannot copy and paste the file name into the text box.
(Solution 1)
Use the Browse button to specify the file.
(Solution 2)
Use the keyboard to type the file name in the text box.
5-2-3. (Problem)
In a Mac OS X environment, the pointer does not change back
from an hourglass shape after clicking the icon of a device that
has encountered a communication error.
(Solution)
Restart the browser. If the problem persists, clear Netscape's cache.
5-2-4. (Problem)
In a Mac OS X environment, after changing the setting to save your
password, Netscape closes after the password is entered.
(Solution)
Restart the browser, then change the setting back to its
previous state. If the problem persists, uninstall Netscape and
then reinstall it.
5-3. Netscape 6.x
The following problems have been noted with use of Netscape 6.x. To avoid
these problems, use of Netscape 7.x is recommended.
5-3-1. (Problem)
The browser displays the following error message:
"The file http://localhost:8090/wm/ is not found."
(Solution)
Use the latest version of Netscape or Internet Explorer.
5-3-2. (Problem)
The "Go to top" link does not work.
(Solution)
Use the latest version of Netscape or Internet Explorer.
5-4. Netscape Communicator 4.x
The following problems have been noted with use of Netscape Communicator 4.x.
To avoid these problems, use of Netscape 7.x is recommended.
5-4-1. (Problem)
If you click the Layout tab on the Driver Distribution page, the browser
freezes.
(Solution 1)
Click inside a window from an application other than the browser,
then click inside the Netscape Communicator window.
(Solution 2)
Upgrade Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment to the latest version.
(Solution 3)
Use the latest version of Netscape or Internet Explorer.
5-4-2. (Problem)
If you click "Go to top", the browser displays an error message.
(Solution)
On the View menu of the browser, point to Character Set then
select Unicode (UTF-8).
5-4-3. (Problem)
If Help or other links are clicked while searching for devices,
the browser stops displaying the latest search results.
(Solution 1)
Refresh the page.
(Solution 2)
Use the latest version of Netscape or Internet Explorer.
6. Others
6-1. Overwriting Trap Settings
EpsonNet WebManager may overwrite the trap settings made by the
following applications.
EpsonNet WebManager
EpsonNet Config
EpsonNet WebAssist
EpsonNet WinAssist
EpsonNet MacAssist
If trap settings are overwritten, traps are not sent to previously
set destinations.
If EpsonNet WebManager was a previously set destination, changes in
device status will be detected within 90 seconds.
6-2. About Unknown Language and Version in Driver Storage Tool
In Driver Storage Tool, <Unknown> may be displayed for the language
and version of drivers obtained from CD-ROM or other media.
If <Unknown> is displayed, a dialog box appears when you select the
driver. Select the language and enter the version of the driver in
the dialog box.
When all the information has been entered, the OK button will be
enabled and you can proceed to select the driver.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
