This file contains information for eMPIA BDA Beta driver 0511.


1. Windows Platform Supported

   This driver supports Win XP only.


2. eMPIA Chips Supported

   This driver supports all eMPIA EM28xx chips:

   Analog-only 2800/2820/2840/2860, Digital-only 2870, and A+D 2880.


3. VBI is supported for EM2840, 2860, and 2880. 


4. Analog caputure functionality has been verified by GraphEdit, Amcap, 
   ShowShifter and some third party applications.


5. Digital streaming (both ATSC and DVBT) has been verified by GraphEdit,
   ShowShifter, and some third party applications.


6. Please follow the procedure below to run 2-stream configurations:

   a. Start analog capture first, e.g., DVD.
   b. Start digital TV.
   c. Close digital TV.
   d. Close analog capture.

   This feature in only available on EM2880.


7. Known Problems

   a. Multiple instance not completed.
   b. 2-tuner configuration not verified.

12. Installation Instructions

   a. use emEPROM.exe to configure your USB string as "USB 28xx Device".
      For example, EM2881 chip should have a string "USB 2881 Device" in
      EEPROM.

   b. Uninstall the corresponding eMPIA WDM driver.

   c. Unplug and replug the device.

   d. Install the BDA driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
