IBM TrackPoint Software for Windows 9x,Me,NT4
Driver Versions: 2.xx
This diskette or folder contains the software driver for the IBM
PS/2 TrackPoint. The following operating systems are supported:
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Me and
Windows NT 4.0.
This is also a "win2k" folder that contains the software driver
for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. For more information, see the
readme.txt file in the "win2k" folder.
This software is only intended for use with the IBM PS/2 TrackPoint
controller versions 3A, 3B and 3E.
TrackPoint Driver Installation on Windows 98/Windows 98 Second Edition
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Start Windows 98.
2. Insert the TrackPoint Driver Diskette into the diskette drive.
3. Click on Start.
4. Move the cursor to Settings;then click on Control Panel.
5. Double Click on the System icon.
6. Click on Device Manager tab at the top of the "System Properties" window.
7. Double-click on Mouse.
8. Double-click on PS/2 Mouse Port or IBM PS/2 TrackPoint.
9. Click on the Driver tab.
10. Click on the Update Driver... button.
11. Click on Next.
12. Click on Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location.
13. Click on Next.
14. Click on Have Disk.
15. Enter the folder name for the Win9x/NT4 TrackPoint driver.
The installation file name is tp4setup.inf. In most cases
this will be "A:\win9xnt4".
16. Click on OK.
17. Click on IBM PS/2 TrackPoint in the list.
18. Click on Next.
19. If "Update Driver Warning" window appears, click on Yes.
20. Click on Next.
21. Click on Finish in the "Update Device Driver Wizard" window.
22. Restart your computer so the new settings will take effect.
TrackPoint Driver Installation on Windows Me

1. Start Windows ME.
2. Insert the TrackPoint Driver Diskette into the diskette drive.
3. Click on Start.
4. Move the cursor to Settings;then click on Control Panel.
5. Double-click on the System icon.
6. Click on Device Manager tab at the top of the "System Properties" window.
7. Double-click on Mouse.
8. Double-click on the current PS/2 mouse driver. This should be have a
name like Standard PS/2 mouse or IBM PS/2 TrackPoint.
10. Click on the "Update Driver" button.
11. Select "Specify location of driver (Advanced)".
12. Click on Next.
13. Click on Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location.
14. Click on Next.
15. Click on Have Disk.
16. Enter the folder name for the Win9x/NT4 TrackPoint driver.
The installation file name is tp4setup.inf. In most cases
this will be "A:\win9xnt4".
17. Click on OK.
18. Click on "IBM PS/2 TrackPoint" in the list.
19. Click on Next.
21. If an "Update Driver Warning" window appears, click on Yes.
22. Click on Next.
23. Click on Finish in the "Update Device Driver Wizard" window.
Click "OK" to close any open dialog boxes.
24. If the system prompts for a system restart, click "Yes" to Restart
your computer so the new settings will take effect. If the system
does not prompt for a system restart, you will need to restart
the system manually.
TrackPoint Driver Installation for Windows 95/Windows NT 4.0

1. Start Windows 95/Windows NT 4.0.
2. Insert the TrackPoint Driver Diskette into the diskette drive.
3. On the Taskbar, click the Start button.
4. Select Settings, Control Panel.
5. Double Click on the Mouse icon.
6. Select the General tab at the top of the Mouse Properties panel.
7. Click on the Change button.
8. Click on the Have Disk button.
9. Enter the folder name for the Win9x/NT4 TrackPoint driver.
The installation file name is tp4setup.inf. In most cases
this will be "A:\win9xnt4".
10. Click on the OK button.
11. Select IBM PS/2 TrackPoint from the list.
12. Click on the OK button.
13. Click on the Close button on the Mouse Properties panel.
14. Restart your computer so the new settings will take effect.
TrackPoint Driver Uninstall on Windows 98/Windows 98 Second Edition/Windows Me

1. Start Windows 98.
2. On the Taskbar, click the Start button.
3. Select Settings, Control Panel.
4. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
5. Select "IBM TrackPoint Support 2.xx".
6. Click "Add/Remove".
7. If a "System Settings Change" dialog appears, click "No".
8. Click OK.
9. In the Control Panel, double-click System.
10. Click on the "Device Manager" tab.
11. Double-click "Mouse".
12. Double-click "IBM PS/2 TrackPoint".
13. Click on the "Driver" tab.
14. Click "Update Driver...".
15. Click "Next".
16. Click "Display a list of all the drivers...".
17. Click "Next".
18. Click "Show all hardware".
19. In the left-hand box, select "(Standard mouse types)".
20. In the right-hand box, select "Standard PS/2 Port Mouse".
21. Click "Next".
22. Click "Next".
23. Click "Finish".
24. If a "System Settings Change" dialog appears, click "Yes".
TrackPoint Driver Uninstall on Windows NT 4.0

1. Start Windows NT 4.0.
2. On the Taskbar, click the Start button.
3. Select Settings, Control Panel.
4. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
5. Select "IBM TrackPoint Support 2.xx".
6. Click "Add/Remove".
7. Click OK.
8. In the Control Panel, double-click Mouse.
9. Click on the "General" tab.
10. Click "Change..."
11. Click "Show all devices"
12. In the left-hand box, select "(Standard mouse types)".
13. In the right-hand box, select "Standard PS/2 Port Mouse".
14. Click OK.
15. When a "Confirm Device Install" warning appears, click "Yes".
16. When a "General" warning appears, click "No".
17. If the "Insert Disk" warning appears, click "OK" and direct the
installation to your CDROM drive containing your Windows NT
CDROM.
18. Click "Close".
19. If a "System Settings Change" dialog appears, click "Yes".
TrackPoint Driver Uninstall on Windows 95

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
