Instructions for Updateing the SCSI Layer on 
Windows 2000 / XP / NT Workstations

1. Log on to workstation with Administrative rights.

2. Create a new folder in the root directory of C: drive called Temp

3. Using your web browser, go to Action Imaging Solution's web page
   (www.action-imaging.com) and from the Home Page select   
   Downloads - Fixes and Upgrades

4. That page contains files called either 
   Win2KSCSI Fix or WinXPSCSI Fix.  
   Double click to download the appropriate file for your operating 
   system. Select Save this program to disk.   When browse window o
   pens, choose the Temp directory.

5. When download is complete, use Windows Explorer to go to the 
   Temp folder.  SCSI Fix is a self-extracting zipped file; 
   double click to unzip; select Browse button to change 
   "unzip to folder" to the C:\Temp folder.

6. If unzip worked properly, the following files should now be in 
   the Temp folder:
      * ASPI32Upgrade.txt
      * aspi32.exe
      * Win 2000 and NT SCSI.exe or Win XP SCSI.exe
      * Rescan.exe
     
7. Now double click on the Win 2000 and NT SCSI.exe or Win XP SCSI.exe
   file, which are also self-extracting; and allow files to be 
   unzipped to the C:\ root directory.

8. Now double click on the aspi32.exe and this will launch the upgrade
   process.

9. There will be a pop-up window that asks if you wish to continue,
   select Yes.  Click on the Upgrade button in the next window.
   Watch closely for any error messages.

10. If upgrade executes successfully there should be a final window
    that says that your ASPI Layer is Up To Date.  
    Click on Okay to close window.

11. Now restart your workstation.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
