Overview

This is a Windows 2000 updated modem driver for the integrated modem for the Brookings motherboard.


Identification

1.  Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click View all Control Panel options.  If you do not have this option, it means that you can see all options already.

3.  Double-click the System icon.

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Device Manager tab.

5.  On the Device Manager tab, double-click Modem.  The modem that is listed should read 56K AC-LINK Voice Modem.


Installation

Download the file to the desktop, and then follow these steps. 

1.  Double-click the 7509609.exe file. 

2.  In the Win-Zip Self Extractor window, click Unzip to expand the files to C:\Drivers\7509608, and then click OK. 

3.  Close all open programs.

4.  Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel

5.  In Control Panel, click View all Control Panel options.  If you do not have this option, it means that you can see all options already.

6.  Double-click the System icon.

7.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Device Manager tab.

8.  On the Device Manager tab, double-click Modem.

9.  Double-click the modem device.

10.  In the Modem Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

11.  On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.

12.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Specify the location of the driver.

13.  Click Display a list of the driver in a specific location so you can select the driver you want, and then click Next.

14.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Have Disk.

15.  In the Install from disk dialog box type: C:\Drivers\7509608.  Click OK.

16.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Next.

17.  Click Next.

18.  If an Update Driver warning is displayed, click OK.

19.  Files are copied.  Click Finish.

20.  Close all windows on the screen.

21.  Click Start, and then click Shut down.

22.  In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.


Removal

1.  Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. 

3.  In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, click 56K AC-LINK Voice Modem (Uninstall), and then click Add/Remove. 

4.  The uninstall performs without any other user input and 56K AC-LINK Voice Modem (Uninstall) is removed from the list, signifying that the uninstall has finished.
  
5.  You may be prompted to restart, if so, click Yes to restart.


Troubleshooting

If you have problems installing the new driver, try downloading it again and follow the procedure above.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
