This directory contains the Prodif T 2496(TM) wave driver for Windows NT 4.0.



*** Installation instructions ***

To install the Prodif T 2496 Windows NT wave driver:
1. Open the Multimedia Control Panel, and select the "Devices" tab.
2. Click the "Add..." button at the bottom of the Multimedia Control Panel.
3. Select "Unlisted or Updated Driver" and click "OK".
4. Click the "Browse..." button, and then browse into the WinNT subdirectory on your
   Prodif T 2496 Driver Installation disk.  If you downloaded the Prodif T 2496 drivers,
   browse into the WinNT subdirectory in the directory where you unzipped the driver
   files.  Then click "OK" to select the directory.  Click "OK" once more to let
   Windows search for the driver.
5. Select "Prodif T 2496" and click "OK".
6. Wait for Windows to install the driver files on your computer.  If you see a window
   that says, "The required tcifpci.dll driver is already on the system.  Do you want
   to use the current driver or install a new driver?", click "New" to install the
   new Prodif T 2496 driver files.
7. When the system asks if you want to restart the computer to complete installation,
   click "Restart Now" to restart the computer.  This step is required to complete the
   installation process.



*** Release notes ***

Known issues with this release:
1. This driver has not been extensively tested on Windows NT SMP systems.
2. When an application using the Prodif T 2496 crashes, the Prodif T 2496 driver is
   not closed by the application; this causes subsequent open requests to fail.
   This condition can be cleared by rebooting the computer.
3. In some cases, the Multimedia Control Panel device installer replaces existing
   audio devices with the Prodif T 2496.  This does not happen in all cases, and is
   not under our control.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
