Release date: 31-Oct-2001 Version: 4.2.3.30 Use the following steps to install the USB CD-Writer drivers. 1.Download the cdrw_usb.exe file to the hard drive. 2.Once downloaded, double-click on the cdrw_usb.exe file to launch the InstallShield Wizard. 3.Stepping through the wizard, accept the default location to expand the driver files to: C:\HP_USB_CD-RW_drivers. 4.Once the drivers have been expanded into the C:\HP_USB_CD-RW_drivers folder, connect the USB CD-Writer to the computer. 5.The operating system's hardware installation wizard should start. If the installation wizard does not start, review the steps in the Trouble Installing the USB Drivers section below. 6.Follow the hardware installation wizard steps until asked where to install the drivers from. Specify the C:\HP_USB_CD-RW_drivers as the directory to install the drivers from. 7.Complete the installation wizard. Trouble Installing the USB Drivers If the hardware wizard does not automatically start, try the following: Resetting the USB CD-Writer. 1.Shut down and turn off the computer. 2.Unplug the power cord from the back of the CD-Writer drive to reset the drive. Plug the power cable back into the CD-Writer. 3.Disconnect and re-connect the USB cable from the CD-Writer to the computer. 4.Remove all other USB devices, except for the keyboard and mouse if USB devices. 5.With the CD-Writer plugged back in, restart the computer. The new hardware should start once the computer is restarted. Removing Previously Installed Drivers 1.Search for the following files and delete if found: HPUATA.INF, HPUATA.SYS, HPIOSATA.INF, HPIOSATA.PDR, EUIOSMSD.PDR, EUIOSMSD.INF, EUSBMSD.SYS. 2.Shut down and turn off the computer. 3.Restart the computer. 4.The new hardware wizard should start once the computer is restarted. ***The appropriate files will be restored during the USB CD-Writer driver installation.***Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
