ATTO ExpressPCI FC Flash Initialization ---- ---------- -- ----- -------------- Installation: ------------- The FLASHX.EXE program along with the BOOTROM.SYS, FCCONFIG.SYS, EPCI_MAC.21/22, EPCI_MAC.SIM, and FCMAIN.21/22 files should reside in the same directory along with batch file FLASH.BAT. Usage: ------ The FLASHX.EXE program is provided in order to allow clients to: 1. Upgrade the system boot driver on boards containing older versions (required when upgrading to a new driver release), 2. Change the system boot driver as may be required for use with some operating systems, or 3. Reinitialize a corrupted FLASH memory. The command line format is as follows: FLASHX {-d|-u} [-m [Filename]] [-s [Filename]] [{-p|-pr} [Filename]] [-f [Filename]] [-g [Filename] [-r [Filename]] [-c ChanNum] where: -d Selects dump mode; -u Selects update mode; -f Updates/dumps the RISC Firmware used by the SCSI chip, default filename FCMAIN.21 and/or FCMAIN.22; -g Updates dumps the PC Congiguration program, default filename FCSETUP.COM; -m Updates/dumps the Mac boot ROM driver, default filename EPCI_MAC.21 and/or EPCI_MAC.22 in the current directory; -s Updates/dumps the Mac SIM driver, default filename "EPCI_MAC.SIM" in the current directory; -p Updates/dumps the PC boot ROM driver, default filename "BOOTROM.SYS" in the current directory, adjusting image for ATTO header; -pr Updates/dumps the PC boot ROM driver, default filename "EPCI_PC.ROM" in the current directory, without adjusting for ATTO header; -r Updates/dumps the entire flash memory in raw image mode, RawFilename must be specified; -c Specifies a channel number, ChanNum, to be updated/dumped, starts at 1, default is update all, dump the first; Notes: ------ The ExpressPCI FC adapters can be run in either a PC or a Macintosh computer. Therefore, there are two boot drivers on the card. The Flash program can update either or both boot drivers at once. To write the current (default) PC driver, RISC firmware, Mac drivers and Setup program to the flash memory, use the following command: flashx -u -p -m -s -f -g or simply flashx -u For convenience, the file FLASH.BAT is provided to simplify this process. FLASH.BAT simply executes the FLASHX program with the single argument -u, which updates everything on the card, disregarding any arguments the user might have typed in. Some operating systems may require a special boot driver, replacing either the PC or Mac driver or both. When such a need arises, instructions for replacing the boot driver will be provided with the operating system driver. This utility along with all the drivers and other software on the distribution disks work with either the ISP2100 or ISP2200 based host bus adapters. This utility will automatically select the files with the .21 extension for the 2100-based cards and the files with the .22 extension for the 2200-based cards. It is allowable to have a mixture of the two card tyoes in the same system.Download Driver Pack
