                        ExpressPCI SCSI Adapter
                       Windows 2000 Installation
                       -------------------------

NOTE: If you already have one or more ExpressPCI adapters
installed and you are installing additional adapter(s),
you do NOT need to perform any of these procedures
unless you are updating a previously installed driver.

NOTE: If you have an ExpressPCI DC adapter Windows will present that
adapter an ExpressPCI PSC adapter. This will occur in the
different screens that list adapter names. For example,
in Device Manager under the Scsi and Raid controllers the
adapter name is displayer. The New Hardware Found Wizared
displays the name adapter in several screens. This is only
a problem with the name being displayed. The ExpressPCI DC
        adapter will operate correctly.

A. Installing/Upgrading your ExpressPCI Windows driver
-------------------------------------------------------

    1. Log on to Windows as the system administrator.

    2. Insert your ExpressPCI Installation Disk and run Setup.exe. Click "Install"
to install the ExpressPCI driver and follow the instructions to complete
        the installation.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
B. Adding support for your ExpressPCI adapter to an existing Windows
installation if you are NOT replacing the adapter to which the
    boot disk drive is attached.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

    NOTE:
It is recommended that you complete this installation procedure before
attaching any devices to the adapter. In some cases, it is possible
that another driver may be loaded for your adapter before the
ExpressPCI driver is loaded. This can cause data corruption if you
        are using ATTO striping.

If you are installing an ExpressPCI PSC or DC:

    1. Install your ExpressPCI adapter into an available PCI expansion slot.

    2. Perform the installation procedure in (A) to install the ExpressPCI driver.

NOTE: When you booted your system, Windows automatically detected your
adapter as an LSI Logic adapter and installed an LSI Logic driver for it.
Running the ExpressPCI Driver installation utility replaces LSI Logic driver
        with the ExpressPCI driver.

If you are installing an ExpressPCI UL3D or UL3S:

    1. Perform the installation procedure in (A) to pre-install the ExpressPCI driver.
Shutdown Windows when Setup prompts you to do so.

    2. Install your ExpressPCI adapter into an available PCI expansion slot.

    3. Restart Windows. Windows should detect your ExpressPCI adapter and the
Found New Hardware Wizard should appear. Proceed through the wizard with the
default settings for each adapter channel. During the installation, you will
be prompted to insert the ExpressPCI Installation disk.

    4. When adapter installation is complete, the Found New Hardware Wizard will appear
for an "ATTO Phantom Device" for each channel. Proceed through the wizard with
the default settings to complete the installation.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
C. Adding support for your ExpressPCI adapter to an existing Windows
installation if you ARE replacing the adapter to which the boot disk
    drive is attached
------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Perform the installation procedure as described in (B). Leave
the existing adapter in the system with the devices attached.

    2. Shutdown Windows, attach the desired devices from your old adapter
to the ExpressPCI adapter and, if desired, remove the old adapter.

    3. Restart Windows.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
D. Installing a fresh copy of Windows 2000 onto a SCSI disk attached to
    the ExpressPCI adapter.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Start Windows 2000 text mode setup as per the instructions provided
with Windows 2000. Press F6 when the first blue window appears called
"Windows Setup". The setup program will display a prompt in the
status window on the bottom left of the monitor.

Setup will continue to load files after you press F6.

    2. A new window will appear that gives instructions to specify additional
mass storage devices. Press 'S' indiciating that you wish to install
        a SCSI device.

    3. Insert the ExpressPCI installation diskette in drive A: and press
Enter. You should then be presented with a screen from which you
would normally select a driver, but only a list of ExpressPCI adapters
should appear. Select your adapter and Press Enter.

    4. Windows Setup will load the files from the floppy and then display screen
described in step 2. The 'ATTO ExpressPCI' device should now be listed
        as detected.

    5. Repeat steps 2 - 4 for any other vendor-supplied driver installation
disks. After all other drivers have been processed, press Enter and
proceed with the rest of the Windows Installation procedure.

    NOTE:
When Windows begins copying files to your hard disk, you will again
be prompted to insert the ExpressPCI installation disk
(and any other vendor-supplied disks you used during custom
installation). This is normal. The first time you inserted
the disks, Windows only loaded the drivers into memory; the second
time you insert the disk(s), Windows is copying the driver to your
        hard disk.
