			ExpressPCI SCSI Adapter
			Windows 95 Installation
			-----------------------


NOTE - If you are not installing Windows 95 from a CD-ROM drive attached to
the ExpressPCI adapter, first install Windows 95, then use the second procedure
below.


To install Windows 95 from a CD-ROM drive attached to the ExpressPCI adapter:

    1.	Install DOS and Windows on the system boot disk.  Install the DOS
	version of the ExpressPCI driver and the symcd.sys CD-ROM driver in
	config.sys and the mscdex.exe CD-ROM extension in autoexec.bat.

    2.	From Windows, run the Windows 95 Setup program to install Windows 95
	using the DOS drivers.

    3.	Remove all ExpressPCI and Corel CD-ROM drivers from the config.sys and
	autoexec.bat files and reboot the system in "Safe Mode".  

	To reboot the system in "Safe Mode", first shut down Windows 95.  Then,
	when the message "It is now safe to turn off your computer" appears,
	press [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del].  When you see the message "Starting Windows
	95", press the [F8] key.  Select "Safe Mode" and press [Enter].

	Disregard the message about the special diagnostic mode of Windows by
	clicking on the OK button.

	Note that at this point you will no longer have access to any CD-ROM
	drives attached to the ExpressPCI card; don't worry - installation of
	the Windows 95 ExpressPCI driver will correct this.

    4.	Open the "My Computer" folder, then open the "Control Panel" sub-folder,
	then start the "System" applet and select the Device Manager tab.

    5.	Expand the Unknown Hardware line by double-clicking on it.  One or
	more items labeled "PCI SCSI Bus Controller" should appear.  Double-
	click on the first such item or select the item and click on
	"Properties".  The "PCI SCIS Bus Controller Properties" window should
	appear.

    6.	Select the Driver tab and click "Change Driver".  You should see a
	"Select Hardware Type" window.  Select "SCSI Controllers" then click
	OK.  You should now see the "Select Device" window.

    7.	From the "Select Device" window, Click on "Have Disk", insert the
	ExpressPCI SCSI Software Diskette into drive A, and click OK.  The
	dialog box will show 'A:\' as the selected directory for the install
	files.  This is correct since the 'express.inf' is located there.
	After you click OK, you should be returned to the "Select Device"
	window but this time only four items should appear and they should be
	the names of the four ExpressPCI cards.  Select the appropriate item
	for the card you are installing.

    8.	Click on OK and you will be returned to the "PCI SCSI Bus Controller
	Properties" window.

    9.	Click on OK.  Windows wil then copy the files from the software
	diskette.

    10.	You will be notified that System Settings have been changed and that
	you will need to restart Windows for the changes to take effect.
	Select "No" so that the system will not reboot at this time.

    11.	If the item "Other Hardware" still appears in the Device Manager page
	of the System Properties window, repeat steps 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 until
	either the "Other Hardware" item disappears or there are no more "PCI
	SCI Bus Controller" items listed under it in step 5.

    12.	Restart Windows by selecting "Shut Down" from the Start menu.


To install an ExpressPCI adapter on an installed Windows 95 system:

    1.	Shut down Windows 95, turn off the computer, and install the ExpressPCI
	adapter(s).

    2.	During the next system startup, the "New Hardware Found" window will
	pop up enumerating the new PCI SCSI Bus Controller.  Insert the
	ExpressPCI Software Installation DIsk and click on "Have Disk".

    3.	Enter the path "A:\" and click on OK.  Reboot the system when
	prompted.  NOTE - If you have installed more than one ExpressPCI card,
	you may not want to reboot the system when prompted so that Windows can
	find all the channels before rebooting.  However, remember to restart
	the system after Windows finds all the new hardware.
