This enable program is only needed for DOS environment. You should install the Socket and Card service in your Notebook before executing the client driver. If you do not have the Socket or card service program, please call your notebook vendor. The client driver will keep resident for handling card insertion and removal events. This feature can prevent the system from crashing when the card is removed from socket. To load the client driver, type CBGO [/INT=x][/PORT=xxx][/U][/?] in DOS command line, or DEVICE=[PATHNAME]CBGO.EXE [/INT=x][/PORT=xxx][/U][/?] in config.sys file. where: [/INT=x] This specifies the hardware interrupt (IRQ) where your card will be indicated. The valid IRQs are 3,4,5,6,9,10,11,12,15. [/PORT=xxx] This specifies the I/O address. The valid ports are xx00 or xx80, where xx =04~FEh. [/U] This specifies the client driver will free the resident program when the card is removed from the socket. [/?] This specifies to indicate the program to display all the possible syntax only. The default syntax is: CBGO /INT=5 /PORT=400 After you have executed the CBGO.EXE, you will see the following display to ensure installation was successful. Socket : 0 (for example) IRQ Number : 05 (for example) I/O PORT Base : 0400H (for example) Here is the list of error messages the driver may display and the correction method we suggest: [Error 1] "Enabler Fail in Request IRQ." The IRQ number which you specified is not supported by the Card Service or in conflict with another device. Correction: Change the IRQ number to another valid value as listed above. [Error 2] "Enabler Fail in Request IO Port." The IO port which you specified is not supported by the Card Service or in conflict with another device. Correction: Change the IO port to another valid value as listed above. [Error 4] "General Error." Failed to register service with the Card Service program. Correction: Reboot the system and try again. [Error 5] "Card Service is not compliant with Version 5.00 or higher!" Correction: Install a new Card Service. [Error 6] "CardBus 10/100 is not active ! Correction: Refer to the valid values list above and correct it. [Error 11] "Card Service Driver is not loaded." "Please load the Card & Socket Service Drivers first, or use "ENABLER.EXE" to enable the card directly." Correction: As the description of the error message has indicated. [Warning 1] "The Enabler is already resident." The CBGO.EXE has already been executed. Correction: Reboot your system. [Warning 2] "Please insert New Media CardBus 10/100." The New Media CardBus 10/100 is not detected. Correction: Insert the card. If you have no Card and Socket Services Drivers, you may execute the point enabler, ENABLER.EXE, to directly control the CardBus controller of your computer. To execute ENABLER, type [path]ENABLER.EXE [-il xx] [-io xxxx] [-pi] where [path] the path where the ENABLER.EXE resident [-il xx] Specifies the hardware interrupt (IRQ) where your card will be indicated. Default value is 5 The valid IRQs are 3,4,5,6,9,a,b,c,f. The option is valid only if the "-is" option is given. [-io xxxx] Specifies the I/O address. Default value is auto detect. The valid port addresses are x000, where x=Dh~Eh. [-is] Force the controller use ISA IRQ routing Here is the list of error messages the ENABLER.EXE may display and correction method we suggest: **** PCI BIOS not detected! PCIBIOS Ver 2.1 or higher is not present. Correction: Please contact your Notebook vendor. **** Unable to locate any PCI-to-CardBus Bridges Cannot detect any PCI-to-CardBus bridge.
