                         NE34OD.SYS Ver 2.10

                               2/26/96

Description:

  1. NE34OD.COM is a new ODI workstation driver. It is used for the OS/2
environment only and therefore defaults to the 802.2 frame type.

  2. If there is only one NE-34 PCI adapter, the driver will automatically
get IOBASE and IRQ from PCI Configuration Space.

  3. If there is more than one NE-34 PCI adapter , user must indicate a
     specified IOBASE in NET.CFG file.

Installation:

  1. Load NE34OD.SYS into a floppy disk.

  2. Double-click the [Novell] icon on the OS/2 desktop.
If you cannot find the [Novell] icon on the OS/2 desktop, you must
install it first from the CD-ROM of the Netware 4.x Operation System.

  3. Double-click the [Install] icon in the 'Novell' window.

  4. Choose 'Requester on Workstation' from the 'Installation' menu.

  5. Type the target directory and source drive in 'Set Target Directory'
window, and press the <OK> button when you finish.

  6. Select 'Edit CONFIG.SYS and Copy All Files' in the
'Requester Installation' window, and then press the <OK> button.

  7. Type the driver name NE34OD.SYS in the
'Step1:Choose the ODI LAN Driver' window, and then press the
     <Continue> button.

  8. Follow the instructions and finish the installation.

  9. If there is more than one NE-34 PCI card in your system, you must add
the following statements to the NET.CFG file:
                Link Driver NE34OD
                     port    d000            -> selected NE-34 PCI Card

10.If you want to create or modify the NET.CFG file, you can choose
'This Workstation' from the 'Configuration' menu.

  11. Reboot your system.

Use:

  1. boot your computer,

  2. if you want to select another NE-34 PCI card or set the Ethernet Frame
     Type ...
step1: double-click the [Novell] icon on the OS/2 desktop.

step2: double-click the [Install] icon in the 'Novell' window.

step3: choose 'This Workstation' from the 'Configuration' menu.

        step4: modify the NET.CFG file,

        step5: reboot your system.

Trouble Shooting:

   1. Message---> No NE-34 PCI IO adapter existed.

Solution--> Make sure your NE-34 PCI card is plugged into the system.

   2. Message---> There are multiple NE34PCI cards. Use NET.CFG to specify
                  I/O port.

Solution--> Because there is more than one NE-34 PCI card in system,
you must use the I/O port to select a NE-34 card. This
is done by adding the following statements to the NET.CFG

                        Link Driver NE34OD
                            port d000      ---> selected NE-34 PCI adapter
