   Introduction:
   -------------
   This document describes the procedure to install  Windows NT 4.0
   driver for AcerLAN ALN-201 PCI Ethernet adapter.

   Location of Driver:     \NT4\ALN201.SYS

   Installing driver procedure on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0:
   -----------------------------------------------------
   When you are in Windows NT :

   1. In the Control Panel window, choose the "Network" icon.

   2. In the Network Settings dialog box, click the "Adapters" tag and
      choose the "Add" button.The Select Network Adapter dialog box appears.

   3. In the dialog box of "Select Network Adapter",click the "Have Disk"
      button.

   4. Insert the AcerLAN driver disk in drive A, enter drive and pathname
      A:\NT4  which is the path  where  the  driver  ALN201.SYS  and
      setup file OEMSETUP.INF are located, and then choose the OK button.

   5. There will show a dialog box of "Select OEM Option" and a message of
      "AcerLAN ALN-201 PCI Ethernet Adapter".Choose the OK button.

   6. There will prompt a ALN-201AS Duplex mode windows that allows you to
      set the duplex mode of the adapter.
      If you connect the adapter to the Ethernet Switch that supports
      Full-Duplex feature,you can change the property of ALN-201 to be
      Full-Duplex mode.

   Note:The AcerLAN ALN-201 doesn't support Auto-Negotiation,so if the adapter
        is intended to connected to Ethernet Switch with Full-Duplex mode,the
        Switch should be fixed to be Full-Duplex mode.

   7. Click 'OK',and click 'Close' button to bind the services and protocols
      then to restart the system.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
