This file pertains to the SupraSST 56i modem (SUP2770) and contains drivers for Windows XP.  These drivers are not for use with other modems or operating systems.  These drivers are for modems with the R6793-11 chipset, and are intended to fix issues with the speaker not turning off properly during connection.

These are drivers for the SupraSST 56i Pro modem (SUP2850) for Windows XP, and address issues with the speaker not turning off properly during connection.


Installation Instructions

-----------------

You should print this document for easy reference.   This installation prodecure is for updating the drivers for the modem, as the modem will be installed automatically by the operating system as a "Generic Soft 56k" modem.


Installation Process for Windows XP:
-----------------


1. Download the file to your computer. In your browser, click on the file name, 
suprasst-2770-11-v92_winxp_30512.exe.  Your browser should prompt as to where you would like save the file. Note the location that the file was saved to.

2. When the download is complete, you should disconnect from the internet and close all open 
programs.

3. Extract the files from the downloaded file. Click Start\Run\Browse. Locate the suprasst-2770-11-v92_winxp_30512.exe file on the floppy or hard drive.  Click OK and then OK again, or double-click the file icon.

4. A Self-Extractor window should appear.  "C:\SUPRA" should appear in the Unzip To Folder window. This is the default location.

5. After the files have been extracted, review this readme in notepad and print if necessary.  Close this window to exit the extractor program.

6. Go to the Phone and Modem Options Control Panel.  Depending upon how you have Windows XP set up, this may be different.  Normally, you will go to Start > Control Panels > Printers & Other Hardware > Phone & Modem Options.  Highlight the Generic Soft 56K modem and click on Properties.

9. On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.  Choose to "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install."  Click Next.

10. Point the installation wizard to the location that the drivers were extracted to (this will be C:\SUPRA, if you did not change the default location).  You may receive a message about the drivers not being digitally signed.  Continue through this message.

11. Drivers for the SupraSST 56i modem will install.  Click Finish to finish the installation.  Now, verify the installation.


Installation Verification
---------------------------

To verify that the updated drivers have been installed, you should do the following:

1. Go to the Phone and Modem Options Control Panel.  Depending upon how you have Windows XP set up, this may be different.  Normally, you will go to Start > Control Panels > Printers & Other Hardware > Phone & Modem Options.

2. Go to the Modems tab.

3. Highlight your modem and click on Properties.  On the Diagnostics tab, click on Query Modem.  Next to one of the lines starting with ATi3, look for:

SupraSST 56i V3.05.12
	
This is the driver version of the modem, and indicates you have successfully installed your modem with these drivers, and that it is installed correctly in Windows.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
