3Com NT Power Management TDI Service Guide Purpose: The 3Com NT Power Management TDI Service is needed to allow the 3Com 10/100 Mini PCI network card to work in conjunction with Softex APM manager. Softex APM manager allows the user to have power management capabilities in the Windows NT 4.0 environment. Without the 3com NT Power Management TDI Service, the 3Com 10/100 Mini PCI card will not resume from suspend properly and may cause loss of network connection. Items Fixed: The previous version of the 3Com TDI service did not start until the system was logged in. If the system was suspended at the login prompt, intermittent failures would occur. This release resolves this issue. Installation Instructions: If an older version of the 3Com NT Power Management TDI is installed you must first remove it from the system 1. Right click "Network Neighborhood" and scroll down to "Properties" 2. Click on the "Services" tab. 3. Highlight "3Com NT Power Management TDI" 4. Press the "Remove" Button. 5. You will be asked to restart the system. Please restart the system Installing 3Com NT Power Management TDI Service 1. Click "Start" button ask desktop and choose "Run" 2. Browse for the "setup.exe" of the TDI Service, this will be located were the application was unzipped on your system. 3. Once "setup.exe" is found press"OK" to start installation. 4. Follow instructions. 5. You will be asked to restart your system. Please restart the system. Disabling 3Com NT Power Management TDI Service If you remove your 3Com 10/100 Mini PCI card or disable it because you are using a docking profile you must disable the 3Com NT Power Mangement TDI Service. 1. Double click "My Computer" 2. Double click "Control Panel" 3. Double click "Devices" 4. Select "3Com 3C556 Adapter" 5. Press "HW Profile" Button 6. Choose "Docking" hardware profile 7. Press "Disable" 8. Press "OK" 9. Select "3Com NT Power Management TDI" 10. Press "HW Profile" Button 11. Choose "Docking" hardware profile 12. Press "Disable" 13. Press "OK" 14. In “Control Panel”. Double click “Services” 15. Select “3Com APM Monitor Service” 16. Press “HW Profile” Button 17. Choose “Docking” hardware profile 18. Press “Disable” 19. Press “OK”Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
