Analog Devices Inc. SoundMAX(R) 3.0 Audio SoundMAX 3.0 is designed for and tested with Windows(R) 98SE, Windows 2000, and Windows Millennium. INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS: Installation or Update of Analog Devices SoundMAX 3.0 Audio Driver NOTE: Remove any previously installed driver using the instructions in the next section. 1. From the task bar, click on Start -> Run. 2. In the Run dialog box, type X:\path\setup, where X:\path is the full path to the root of the installation media. 3. When upgrading or reinstalling, a dialog will appear. Select Reinstall and press Next. 4. Click on the OK button or press the ENTER key. 5. Click on the Next and OK prompts as they appear. 6. Reboot the system to complete the installation. Removal of Analog Devices SoundMAX Audio Driver 1. From the task bar, click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel. 2. Double-click on the Add/Remove programs icon. 3. Double-click on SoundMAX Install. 4. If the installation media is present, a Dialog will appear. Select Remove and press Next. 5. Reboot the system to fully uninstall the drivers. HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE DEPENDENCIES: This software has been designed for and tested with Windows(R) 98SE, Windows 2000 and Windows ME. There are issues with Windows 98 Gold that will cause problems. 1. The system must contain either an ICH chip set or a VIA Super South Bridge chip set. 2. One of the following operating systems must be installed on the system: Windows 98SE 4.10.2222A Windows ME 4.90.3000 Windows 2000 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) Note: Microsoft has also released "Compatibility Updates" for Windows 2000 that address problems with specific applications. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
