Below procedures will guide you to update the new driver on your Win XP
system step by step.

1. Copy XP folder to a floppy diskette.
The Win XP driver was contained in the \XP sub-directory.  Three files
included: AN983.SYS, NETAN983.CAT, and NETAN983.INF
2. Select 'Control Panel'
3. Select 'System'
4. Select 'Hardware'
5. Select 'Device Manager'
6. Select 'Network adapters', then click your AN983 adapter or Linksys

7. Right click mouse button on the adapter, then select 'Update Driver' from the menu bar
8. Select 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)', then
<Next>
9. Select 'Don't search, I will choose the driver to install', then <Next>
10. Select 'Have Disk...', then direct the direction to your floppy
diskette that contained the downloaded driver
11. Select ' ADMtek AN983 10/100Mbps PCI Adapter' , then <Next>
12. then <Finish>

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
