4. Other Issues
If you can successfully print to a printer that is connected directly to the
LPT port (parallel port) on your computer, but you have a compatibility
problem between the printer and your Print Server, choose one
of the following options:
- If you are using an EPSON printer (Stylus Color Printer):
All port names MUST be preceded by the
letters "LPTN:". Therefore, please rename all respective
port names to begin with "LPTN:" (N=1,2,3: For example,
LPT1:PSxxxxxx for parallel port one; LPT2:PSxxxxxx for
parallel port two; LPTN:PSxxxxxx for logical printer.
Note that PSxxxxxx is the default print server name.
You may need to change the setting of the Epson
Spool Manager. To do this, start the Epson Spool Manager from the
program files menu, select "Queue Setup" from the menu, and
click on the "Use Print Manager For this port" box. Then
click OK to exit.
- If you are using an HP InkJet Printer or any other printer
that provides bi-directional support
While printing, if you see the error message, "There is
an error writing to PSxxxxxx ...," disable bi-directional
support on the printer. You can disable bidirectional
support by right-clicking on the printer icon and selecting
Properties>Details>Spool Settings...>. Next, select
"Disable Bi-directional support for this printer."
