Introduction ================ This README file contains release notes for the Intel Express 3D graphics card display drivers , describing any problems or issues that were known at the time of shipment. The requirements for this release are as follows: Windows* 95 ========================= ** Windows* 95 Version: OSR2.1 or later with USB Supplement ** DirectX* 5.0 Version: RC2-Gold At time of publication, Windows 98 had not yet been released to production. See the Intel Express 3D graphics card support website for the latest information. Make certain that the proper operating system requirements are met BEFORE attempting to install the Intel Express 3D graphics card display drivers. The USB Supplement for Windows 95 OSR2.0 is available from Microsoft's OEM System Builder program. For OSR2.1 and later, the USB Supplement can be installed from a subdirectory of the Windows 95 CD. To find the version information of Windows 95: 1) Open the System applet from Windows Control Properties. 2) On the General tab, read the information under Windows 95. It should read 4.00.950B for OSR2.1 or 4.00.950C for OSR2.5. 3) Select Run from the Windows Start menu. Type regedit and click OK. 4) View this entry: My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ 5) Look at the Version Number field. It should read 4.03.xxxx if the USB Supplement has been installed. If it reads 4.00.xxxx, you need to install the USB Supplement. ******************************************************************************** 2. Files Included =============================== GFX.INF GFX.VXD GFXDD16.DLL GFXDD32.DLL GFXDRV.DRV GFXNULL.DRV GFXVFW.VXD GFXVFW16.DLL GFXVFW32.DLL GFXVMI.DLL GFXVVMID.VXD VGARTD.VXD ******************************************************************************** 3. Release Notes ================= 3.1 Intel Express 3D Graphics Card Display Drivers Release Notes ================================================================= This release fixes: (1) System lock up issue when running InstallShield* under simplified and traditional Chinese localized versions of Windows*95 (2) Page fault errors that occasionally occur when running "All Tests" or "All Quality Tests" in 3DWinBench98*. Known Issues With This Release: (1) Some versions of UniVBE do not correctly detect the Intel Express 3D graphics card. (2) Drivers do not currently support multi-monitor. (3) In the Windows 95 Control Panel\System applet, the Resources tab for the Intel Express 3D graphics card will list a Memory Range conflict with the PCI-to-PCI bridge. This is a normal result of how Windows 95 detects AGP. (4) On systems using the SE440BX motherboard with a Crystal PCI sound device down on the motherboard, an interrupt conflict can cause no sound to be heard with older Crystal drivers. Change the IRQ settings so that the Intel Express 3D graphics card does not share an interrupt with the Crystal device, or remove all Crystal registry entries and then install newer Crystal drivers. ******************************************************************************** 4.
