(1) UUNET exercises no control whatsoever over the content of the
information passing through AlterDial. UUNET makes no warranties of any
kind, whether expressed or implied, for the service it is providing.
UUNET also disclaims any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a
particular purpose. UUNET will not be responsible for any damage you
suffer. This includes loss of data resulting from delays,
nondeliveries, misdeliveries, or service interruptions caused by its
own negligence or your errors or omissions. Use of any information
obtained via AlterDial is at your own risk. UUNET specifically denies
any responsibility for the accuracy or quality of information obtained
through its services.

(2) AlterDial may only be used for lawful purposes. Transmission of
any material in violation of any US or state regulation is prohibited.
This includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material, material
legally judged to be threatening or obscene, or material protected by
trade secret. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UUNET from any
claims resulting from your use of the service which damages you or
another party.

(3) Any access to other networks connected to AlterDial must comply
with the rules appropriate for that other network. This specifically,
but not exclusively, includes NSFNET. Use of AlterDial itself may be
for any lawful purpose. Use of AlterDial for lawful commercial purposes
is both permitted and encouraged. Connectivity is provided for your
organization only. Resale or use of the connection by another
organization is prohibited.

(4) Payment is due 30 days after date of invoice. Accounts are in
default if payment is not received within 30 days after date of
invoice. If your payment is returned to us unpaid you are immediately
in default and subject to a returned check charge of $25 from us.
Accounts unpaid 60 days after date of invoice may have their service
interrupted. Such interruption does not relieve you from the obligation
to pay the monthly charge. Only a written request to terminate your
service relieves you of your obligation to pay the monthly account
charge. Accounts in default are subject to a late payment charge of $50
and an interest charge of 1.5% per month on the outstanding balance. If
your state law does not allow an interest rate of 1.5% per month, the
maximum allowable rate for your state will be charged. If you default,
you agree to pay UUNET its reasonable expenses, including attorney and
collection agency fees, incurred in enforcing its rights under these
Terms and Conditions.

(5) Service is invoiced monthly and may be cancelled in writing at
any time with no penalty. Prices are for delivery FOB Falls Church, VA.
UUNET reserves the right to change the rates by notifying you 30 days
in advance of the effective date of the change.

(6) These Terms and Conditions supersede all previous
representations, understandings or agreements and shall prevail
notwithstanding any variance with terms and conditions of any order
submitted. Use of AlterDial constitutes acceptance of these Terms and
Conditions.

THE NSFNET BACKBONE SERVICES ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY June 1992

GENERAL PRINCIPLE:

maintain currency, or to debate issues in a field or subfield of
knowledge.

(4) Use for disciplinary-society, university-association,
government-advisory, or standards activities related to the users
research and instructional activities.

(5) Use in applying for or administering grants or contracts for
research or instruction, but not for other fundraising or public
relations activities.

(6) Any other administrative communications or activities in direct
support of research and instruction.

(7) Announcements of new products or services for use in research
or instruction, but not advertising of any kind.

(8) Any traffic originating from a network of another member agency of
the Federal Networking Council if the traffic meets the acceptable use
policy of that agency.

(9) Communication incidental to otherwise acceptable use, except
for illegal or specifically unacceptable use.

UNACCEPTABLE USES:

(10) Use for for-profit activities, unless covered by the General
Principle or as a specifically acceptable use.

(11) Extensive use for private or personal business.
